ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Joint Economic Design of CUSUM Control Chart and Age-Based Imperfect Preventive Maintenance Policy [PDF]
The close relationship between statistical process control and maintenance has attracted lots of researchers to focus on the jointly economic design of control chart (a main tool of statistical process control) and preventive maintenance policy, and much

BackgroundLeptospirosis is diagnosed on clinical grounds, and confirmed by microscopic agglutination test (MAT). IgM-ELISA (Serion-Virion) and immunochromatography test (Leptocheck-WB) are two immunodiagnostic assays for leptospirosis. Their sensitivity,

ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

MPSK TCM with imperfect phase reference [PDF]
The effect of a noisy carrier reference on MPSK trellis coded modulation (TCM) systems is studied for both the static and Rayleigh fading environments. Upper bounds for the error probability are presented for each case.

Error probability of M-phase signaling with phase noise over fading channels [PDF]
This correspondence focuses on the analysis of average symbol error rate (ASER) of M-ary phase-shift keying (MPSK) over κ-μ, η-μ, and α-μ fading channels subject to imperfect carrier phase recovery. The random phase noise is considered to be Tikhonov (or
