Sequential imperfect preventive maintenance policies
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1988This paper introduces improvement factors in hazard rate and age for a sequential preventive maintenance (pm) policy and analyzes two imperfect pm models: 1) pm reduces the hazard rate while it increases with the number of pm's and 2) pm reduces the age. The pm is done at intervals \(x_ k\) \((k=1,2,...,N)\) and is imperfect.

OPTIMAL AGE-DEPENDENT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE POLICIES WITH IMPERFECT MAINTENANCE
International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 1996This paper proposes three age-dependent preventive maintenance models with imperfect repair and/or imperfect preventive maintenance (pm). In these models imperfect repair is treated in a way that after repair the lifetime of a unit will decrease to a fraction of its immediately previous one and its repair time will increase to a multiple of ...

A production model with imperfect preventive maintenance
Journal of Statistics and Management Systems, 2005Abstract We study a production system subjected to a continuous deteriorating which can go “out-of-control” while producing items. Once out of control, the process produces a fixed proportion of defective items until the “out-of-control” state is restored by a scheduled maintenance.

AN OPTIMAL BLOCK PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE POLICY FOR A MULTI-UNIT SYSTEM CONSIDERING IMPERFECT MAINTENANCE [PDF]
A block preventive maintenance (PM) policy for a multi-unit system composed of identical units is investigated in this paper. The block PM model of this paper considers periodic inspection and periodic imperfect maintenance. The imperfect maintenance effects are formulated using improvement factor and age reduction model.

The effect of preventive maintenance on a system with imperfect switchover
Microelectronics Reliability, 1983A two-unit standby-redundant system with repair, preventive maintenance (pm) and imperfect switchover is considered. The Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the survival function of the time to first system failure (TFSF) and the mean TFSF are derived. Finally a theorem about the effect of pm is proved.

Imperfect Preventive Maintenance Models
2000This chapter surveys the earlier results of imperfect preventive maintenance (pm) models which could be applied to actual systems; (i) the unit after pm has the same hazard rate as before pm, (ii) the age of the unit becomes x units of time younger at pm, and (iii) the age reduces to at when it was t before pm.

Maintenance optimization in failure-prone systems under imperfect preventive maintenance
Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2018In the majority of the existing preventive optimization models only costs related to maintenance actions are accounted for, while breakdown and operational costs are usually ignored. Liao et al. (J Intell Manuf 21(6):875–884, 2010) proposed a preventive maintenance model to deal with this shortcoming.

GENERAL SEQUENTIAL IMPERFECT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MODELS
International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 2000This paper presents new sequential imperfect preventive maintenance (PM) models incorporating adjustment/improvement factors in hazard rate and effective age. The models are hybrid in the sense that they are combinations of the age reduction PM model and the hazard rate adjustment PM model.

Model for imperfect age-based preventive maintenance with age reduction
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 2008Summary: The effect of ageing on the deterioration rate of most repairable systems cannot be ignored. Preventive maintenance (PM) is performed in the hope of restoring fully the performance of these systems. However, in most practical cases, PM activities will be only able to restore part of the performance. Bridging the gap between theory and practice
