Multivariate Imperfect Repair

Operations Research, 1986
In this paper, we consider models of systems whose components have dependent lifelengths and are imperfectly repaired upon failure until they are scrapped. First, assuming that no more than one component can fail at a time, we study two models that describe imperfect repairs, and derive the resulting density and other probabilistic quantities of ...

Imperfect repair

Journal of Applied Probability, 1983
A device is repaired at failure. With probability p, it is returned to the ‘good-as-new' state (perfect repair), with probability 1 – p, it is returned to the functioning state, but it is only as good as a device of age equal to its age at failure (imperfect repair). Repair takes negligible time.

Multivariate imperfect repair

Journal of Applied Probability, 1992
We consider models of systems of components with dependent life-lengths having certain multivariate distributions. Upon failure, components are repaired. Two types of repair are possible. After perfect repair, a unit has the same life distribution as a new item.

Multivariate age‐dependent imperfect repair

Naval Research Logistics (NRL), 1991
AbstractIn this article we consider models of systems whose components have dependent life lengths with specific multivariate distributions. Upon failure, components are repaired. Two types of repair are distinguished. After perfect repair, a unit has the same life distribution as a new item.

Optimal Repair Limit Replacement Policies with Imperfect Repair

Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1981
This paper considers the repair limit replacement policies with imperfect repair. The repair is imperfect in the sense that the mean life of a repaired system is less than the mean life of a new system. Furthermore, we examine the repair limit replacement policy for the case in which there are two types of repair-local and central repair.

Repairs under imperfect information

Journal of Urban Economics, 2013
Abstract We propose a theory of how repairs affect prices under imperfect information. Our model reveals that repairs may lower prices because, if repairs are not always successful, they may reveal negative information about product quality. We also show that the price effect of repairs is increasing in the share of defective products in the ...

DISCRETE REPAIR-COST LIMIT REPLACEMENT POLICIES WITH/WITHOUT IMPERFECT REPAIR [PDF]

open access: possibleAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2008
This paper addresses statistical estimation problems of the optimal repair-cost limits minimizing the long-run average costs per unit time in discrete seting. Two discrete repair-cost limit replacement models with/without imperfect repair are considered.

Bayesian imperfect repair model

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 1998
An imperfect repair model proposed by Brown and Proschan(J. Appl. Prob. 20. 1983) is extended in this paper. We propose a new Bayesian imperfect repair model where the probability of perfect repair, P, is considered to be a random variable. Assuming that P has a prior distribution Π(p), we obtain the distribution of waiting times between two successive

Nonparametric significance tests for imperfect repair

Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, 2022
AbstractGiven the failure history for independent and identical repairable systems, a nonparametric procedure is presented to test the null hypothesis of minimal repair (MR) against the alternative of imperfect repair. The main idea is that, under non‐harmful (harmful) repair, systems that failed later (earlier) are more reliable than those that have ...
