Optimal pilot-to-data power ratio for diversity combining with imperfect channel estimation

IEEE Communications Letters, 2006
The bit error probability for BPSK modulation over correlated Rice fading channel is derived for minimum mean square error channel estimation using pilot symbol assisted modulation and diversity combining at the receiver. The optimal pilot-to-data power ratio is studied for different Rice K factors.

Reserves and Reserve Production Ratios In Imperfect Markets

The Energy Journal, 1989
Recent changes in reserves or reserve/production ratios are often cited as evidence of hypothesized economic changes in petroleum markets. However, the technology of petroleum production and the fact that international petroleum markets are not perfectly competitive combine to render incorrect interpretations all too easy. Both market imperfections and

BER Expression for Maximum Ratio Combining in Imperfect Channel Estimation Environment.

i-manager's Journal on Communication Engineering and Systems, 2016
This paper presents the performance of the Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) technique for the downlink BPSK system. Generalized analytical Bit Error Rate (BER) is derived in closed form for imperfect channel estimators in complex flat fading environment. Analytical results show that BER depends on the cosine of estimated phase errors.

The influence of imperfect accretion and radial mixing on ice:rock ratios in the Galilean satellites

Icarus, 2013
We investigate the origin of the steep compositional gradient inferred for the Galilean satellites. We analyze N-body simulations of satellite accretion (Ogihara, M., Ida, S. [2012]. Astrophys. J. 753, 60) to: (1) determine the extent to which individual satellites accrete material from different semi-major axes (‘radial mixing’); and (2) calculate the

The Effect of Imperfect Channel Estimation on the Performance of Maximum Ratio Combining in the Presence of Cochannel Interference

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2006
In this paper, the effects of imperfect channel estimation on maximum ratio combining performance in receive antenna diversity systems with multiple cochannel interferers are examined. The channel considered is a slowly varying flat Rayleigh fading channel that is also spatially independent.

Performance analysis of maximum ratio combining with imperfect channel estimation in the presence of cochannel interferences

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2009
In this paper, we analyze the performance of maximum ratio combining (MRC) systems with imperfect channel estimation in the presence of cochannel interference (CCI) with an arbitrary power interference-to-noise ratio (INR). The maximum combining weights are the imperfect estimates of the desired user's fading channel coefficients and are assumed to be ...

Complex Gaussian Ratio Distribution with Applications for Error Rate Calculation in Fading Channels with Imperfect CSI

2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010
Communications systems rarely have perfect channel state information (PCSI) when demodulating received symbols. This paper shows that the symbol error rate (SER) of a flat fading communications system can be expressed in closed form by expressing the demodulator outputs as random variable (RVs) that have a complex ratio distribution, which is the ratio

Equilibrium paths of an imperfect plate with respect to its aspect ratio

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
The stability analysis of a rectangular plate loaded in compression is presented, a specialized code based on FEM has been created. Special finite element with 48 degrees of freedom has been used for analysis. The nonlinear finite element method equations are derived from the variational principle of minimum of total potential energy.

Why do sex ratio dimorphisms exist in Quercus masting? Evolution of imperfect synchronous reproduction in Monoecious trees

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2010
Masting is synchronous intermittent production of seeds in perennial plant populations. Some self-compatible monoecious Quercus species, such as oaks, exhibit sex ratio dimorphism and produce a certain proportion of male flowers, even in a year when no seed set occurs.

Large System Analysis of the Maximum Ratio Transmission Precoding Under Imperfect Channel State Information With Hardware Impairments

2021 IEEE 32nd Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2021
It is well known that massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems rely on highly accurate channel state information (CSI). Given this critical dependence, we present a general downlink model with maximum ratio transmission (MRT) precoding, applied in a realistic cellular system with multiple antenna base station (BS). We take into consideration the
