Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Mechanisms, Sensors, and Signals for Defect Formation and In Situ Monitoring in Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesEng
Metal additive manufacturing (AM) facilitates the production of geometrically complex components, yet its broader industrial use remains limited by the risk of defect formation and uncertainties in their detection, originating from the highly dynamic and

Identification with imperfect instruments [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Economics and Statistics, 2008
Dealing with endogenous regressors is a central challenge of applied research. The standard solution is to use instrumental variables that are assumed to be uncorrelated with unobservables. We instead assume (i) the correlation between the instrument and the error term has the same sign as the correlation between the endogenous regressor and the error ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Perfective – imperfective

open access: yesLinguistic Variation, 2013
Tense morphology has been found to be cross-linguistically vulnerable in specific language impairment (SLI). Research on the development of aspect is rather limited and results are quite inconsistent; some studies suggest that aspect appears intact (Leonard et al. 2003), while others report severe deficits (Fletcher et al. 2005).

Imperfect homoclinic bifurcations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2001
Experimental observations of an almost symmetric electronic circuit show complicated sequences of bifurcations. These results are discussed in the light of a theory of imperfect global bifurcations. It is shown that much of the dynamics observed in the circuit can be understood by reference to imperfect homoclinic bifurcations without constructing an ...

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Initial Geometric Imperfections: A Robust, Closed-Section Cold-Formed Box Profile Application Subject to Local Buckling

open access: yes, 2021
Initial geometric imperfections are important for simulating local buckling in numerical models. References are found in the technical literature regarding open-section cold formed profiles.

Numerical research on the lateral global buckling characteristics of a high temperature and pressure pipeline with two initial imperfections. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
With the exploitation of offshore oil and gas gradually moving to deep water, higher temperature differences and pressure differences are applied to the pipeline system, making the global buckling of the pipeline more serious.

Comparing Imperfection Ratio and Imperfection Index for Graph Classes [PDF]

open access: yesRAIRO - Operations Research, 2008
Summary: Perfect graphs constitute a well-studied graph class with a rich structure, reflected by many characterizations with respect to different concepts. Perfect graphs are, for instance, precisely those graphs \(G\) where the stable set polytope \(\text{STAB}(G)\) coincides with the fractional stable set polytope \(\text{QSTAB}(G)\).
