Jet Impingement Cooling in VSCF Generators

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1995
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A cooling technique is devised which will maintain the electronics within their thermal operating limits when the power output of currently used VSCFs is augmented to 65 kVA from 40 kVA. This study suggests that the use of jet impingement cooling selectively applied in regions of high heat flux will support the ...

Numerical Simulation of Impinging Jet Cooling

2010 14th International Heat Transfer Conference, Volume 5, 2010
This paper presents a technique for heat transfer prediction of impinging jet cooling of internal combustion engine piston based on numerical simulation in ANSYS CFX. This technique implies the simulation of the hydrodynamics of the interaction between cooling oil jet and moving piston.

Cooling of Electronic Systems by Impinging Air Jets

1994
Thermal performance is one of the most important criterion in the material and process selection for microelectronic packages. Thermal management is driven by integrated circuit scaling. So, forced-air cooling is not only way to get the heat out of electronics. In this paper, cooling of electronic components by impinging air jets is introduced.

Air Impingement Cooling by Synthetic Jet

Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, 2014
Modern consumer electronic trends point to a demand for thinner and more portable electronic devices. Conventional cooling systems of these portable electronic devices are challenging to miniaturize in thin profile applications that are typically on the order of several millimeters in thickness.

Evaporative cooling of air in impinging streams

AIChE Journal, 1995
AbstractAn experience study was conducted on evaporative cooling of air in an impinging‐stream reactor, in which two droplets gas streams flow in opposite directions and meet in the impingement zone. The air was cooler by evaporation of water droplets.

Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Impingement Cooling

Volume 3: Heat Transfer; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration, 2001
Simulations of turbulent impinging jet heat transfer for different nozzle configurations using Reynolds averaged governing equations and two-equation turbulence models have been conducted. The considered nozzle configurations are a square-edged orifice and a pipe exit.

Microjet Impingement Cooling With Phase Change

Heat Transfer, Volume 2, 2004
The large heat generation rates in contemporary microprocessors require new thermal management solutions. Two-phase microjet impingement cooling promises high heat transfer coefficients and effective cooling of hotspots. We have fabricated integrated microjet structures with heaters and temperature sensors to study local heat transfer at the ...

Cooling Performance of an Integrated Impingement and Pin Fin Cooling Configuration

Volume 5: Turbo Expo 2003, Parts A and B, 2003
The cooling configuration adopted in this study integrates impingement cooling and pin fin cooling devices into one body, the aim being enhancement of the effective heat transfer area. The purpose of the study is to confirm improvement of cooling effectiveness for two different pin density configurations by experimental verification.
