Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

On interaction of a liquid film with an obstacle
In this paper are discussed mathematical models for the liquid film generated by impinging jets. These models describe only the film shape under special assumptions about processes.

Rarefied planar jet and jet impingement flows [PDF]
This paper presents three sets of analytical exact solutions to collisionless gas flows from a two-dimensional exit. The first set is free plume expanding into a vacuum, and the other two sets are collisionless plume impingement at a vertically set plate.

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Effects of boundary-layer tripping on the acoustic tones of impinging jets
The influence of boundary-layer tripping on the acoustic tones generated by a jet at a Mach number of 0.9 impinging on a flat plate is investigated for two nozzle-to-plate distances.

Numerical heat transfer modelling of staggered array impinging jets [PDF]
A numerical study of flow field and heat transfer rate in external flow of a novel heat exchanger (Anglia Ruskin University, 2001) was conducted. The design comprises of confined impinging jets from a staggered bundle of tubes in which the fluid flows in

Bubbly Jet Impingement in Different Liquids
An experimental setup for the study of bubbly jets collision in microgravity has been designed. On ground preliminary results are presented in order to be compared with those obtained in a near future in low gravity conditions. The opposed-jet configuration is used with the objective to force the collision of two jets, with an impact angle between them

Here, it is shown that focused ion beam induced deposition (FIBID) using helium and neon ions enables advanced high‐resolution 3D nanoprinting achieving precise multimaterial architectures and engineered internal voids. Thus, FIBID with finely focused noble gas ion species is presented as a unique platform for designing functional nanomaterials for ...
