Benefits and challenges of the integration of haptics‐enhanced virtual reality training within dental curricula

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Haptics‐enhanced virtual reality (VR‐haptic) simulation in dental education has evolved considerably during the past decade, representing a promising resource of simulation‐based training opportunities to support conventional practice.

Model-Dependent Prosthesis Control with Interaction Force Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Current prosthesis control methods are primarily model-independent - lacking formal guarantees of stability, relying largely on heuristic tuning parameters for good performance, and neglecting use of the natural dynamics of the system. Model-dependence for prosthesis controllers is difficult to achieve due to the unknown human dynamics.

Dental implant practice in French West Indies and French Guyana: a cross-sectional study among dental practitioners

open access: yesJournal of Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery, 2018
Background: In 2016, 459 dentists were registered in French West Indies and French Guyana. They represent 10% of French clinicians but they work in an environment very different from continental France.

Design, Implementation and Evaluation of a Variable Stiffness Transradial Hand Prosthesis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present the design, implementation, and experimental evaluation of a low-cost, customizable, easy-to-use transradial hand prosthesis capable of adapting its compliance. Variable stiffness actuation (VSA) of the prosthesis is based on antagonistically arranged tendons coupled to nonlinear springs driven through a Bowden cable-based power transmission.

Gingival phenotype classification by visual and probe visibility assessments: Relationship with thickness and probe design

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigated the agreement among dentists in classifying gingival phenotype (GP) through periodontal probe visibility (PPV) assessment with various probe types and the visual method. Additionally, the relationship between GP classifications and gingival thickness (GT) was evaluated.

Load-bearing capacity of screw-retained CAD/CAM-produced titanium implant frameworks (I-Bridge®2) before and after cyclic mechanical loading

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2013
Implant-supported screw-retained fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) produced by CAD/ CAM have been introduced in recent years for the rehabilitation of partial or total endentulous jaws.

Histological and immunohistochemical soft‐tissue response to cylindrical and concave abutments: Multicenter randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study aimed to analyze the influence of concave and cylindrical abutments on peri‐implant soft tissue. Dimensions, collagen fiber orientation, and immunohistochemical data were assessed. Methods A multicenter, split‐mouth, double‐blind randomized clinical trial was conducted.
