Failures in the osseointegration of endosseous implants

Implant Dentistry, 1993
A total of 68 patients, 26 men and 42 women, aged 21 to 86 years, were treated with 204 endosseous implants (TPS, ITI, Bonefit, or Biolox) from 1985 to 1990. They were examined at their latest recall visit approximately 22.5 months after surgery, the range varying greatly between the implant systems used (from 4 to 60 months).

Cochlear implantation is a relatively safe surgery performed on profound bilateral hearing loss patients. Its surgical indications have increased and the age of implantation has decreased over the last years. As with any other surgery, it presents complications; device failure is one of the most important, given its potential risk for the need to ...

The endometrium as a cause of implantation failure

Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2003
One of the biggest obstacles to reproductive success is our inability to diagnose or treat effectively the non-receptive endometrium. The endometrium becomes receptive for a limited period of time under the influence of steroid hormones and paracrine signals from the developing embryo.

Failure of Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation

Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, 2017
Long-term results of autologous chondrocyte implantation and matrix-assisted autologous chondrocyte transplantation in the knee are satisfying, but not enough attention has been paid to the evaluation of failures. Thus, a systematic review of the literature was performed, underlining a failure rate in the 58 included articles of 14.9% among 4294 ...

Prosthetic Failure in Implant Dentistry

Dental Clinics of North America, 2015
Although osseointegrated dental implants have become a predictable and effective modality for the treatment of single or multiple missing teeth, their use is associated with clinical complications. Implant failure of the gamma nail

Injury, 1999
The gamma nail is a temporary implant characterised by a limited life expectancy under continuous dynamic stress. We reviewed a series of 839 patients with gamma nail stabilisation and found two fatigue fractures (0.2%) at the aperture of the distal locking holes. This complication has not been described in the literature.

Antiphospholipid Antibodies in Implantation Failures*

American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2003
PROBLEM:  The amino phospholipids (PL), phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) are distributed asymmetrically in the plasma membranes of eucaryotic cells. This arrangement involves active transport of PS and PE from the outer to inner membrane leaflet by an aminophospholipid translocase (flipase).
