Water Content and Thermoplastic Polyurethane Effects on Thrombosis Clotting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One of the main factors that can increase the chance of heart disease is unwanted blood clotting, or thrombosis. In addition, implantable biomaterials and/or medical devices are likely to trigger a series of adverse reactions that can lead to ...

Quantitative analysis of tissue oxygenation variability across anatomical landmarks in healthy individuals via near-infrared spectroscopy

open access: yesScientific Reports
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) enables noninvasive assessment of tissue oxygenation, but its broader clinical application is hindered by the absence of standardized reference values across anatomical regions.

A Review: Electrode and Packaging Materials for Neurophysiology Recording Implants

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
To date, a wide variety of neural tissue implants have been developed for neurophysiology recording from living tissues. An ideal neural implant should minimize the damage to the tissue and perform reliably and accurately for long periods of time ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Implantable coaxial nanocomposite biofibers for local chemo‐photothermal combinational cancer therapy

open access: yesNano Select, 2022
Multi‐therapy strategies that coexist in a single system for cancer therapy has a great clinical application potential. In this paper, with the aim of establishing a suitable implantable platform for multimodal chemo‐photothermal cancer therapy, we have ...

Distance colouring without one cycle length [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We consider distance colourings in graphs of maximum degree at most $d$ and how excluding one fixed cycle length $\ell$ affects the number of colours required as $d\to\infty$. For vertex-colouring and $t\ge 1$, if any two distinct vertices connected by a

Embryo Implantation

open access: yesDevelopmental Biology, 2000
A lesson learned from modern developmental biology is the striking degree of conservation of strategies and molecules used to program developmental events in species as diverse as insects, birds, amphibians, and mammals. Nonetheless, mammals retain distinctions with regard to the strategies used to protect and nourish their offspring during development,

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
