From regression rank scores to robust inference for censored quantile regression

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, Volume 51, Issue 4, Page 1126-1149, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Quantile regression for right‐ or left‐censored outcomes has attracted attention due to its ability to accommodate heterogeneity in regression analysis of survival times. Rank‐based inferential methods have desirable properties for quantile regression analysis, but censored data poses challenges to the general concept of ranking.

What's going on in there? Canadian government policy labs and public value management

open access: yesCanadian Public Administration, Volume 66, Issue 4, Page 514-532, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Government‐based policy labs have established themselves across the Canadian policy landscape. This article argues these labs contribute to public value management. The efficacy of subcutaneous slow‐release melatonin implants in the prevention of canine flank alopecia recurrence is uncertain: A double‐blind, randomized, placebo‐controlled study

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 33, Issue 6, Page 553-558, December 2022., 2022
Background – Canine flank alopecia (CFA) is characterized by seasonally recurring noninflammatory, occasionally hyperpigmented alopecia predominantly in the thoracolumbar area. Previous studies suggest that reduced production of endogenous melatonin may play a role in the pathogenesis of this condition, and placebo‐controlled studies on the efficacy of

Distance to hedgerows drives local repulsion and attraction of wind turbines on bats: Implications for spatial siting

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 59, Issue 8, Page 2142-2153, August 2022., 2022
This study provides empirical evidence that wind turbines close to optimal habitats such as hedgerows strongly repel bats, while wind turbines located farther away in open areas could attract them. Increased risks of collisions and habitat losses near edges strengthen the importance of keeping wind turbines at a sufficient distance from woody edges (e ...

Coexistence in an African pastoral landscape: Evidence that livestock and wildlife temporally partition water resources

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 59, Issue 3, Page 696-711, September 2021., 2021
Abstract African rangelands support substantial wildlife populations alongside pastoralists and livestock. Recent wildlife declines are often attributed to competition with livestock over water and grazing, in part because livestock are thought to spatially displace wildlife.

All Social Comparisons are Local? Inequality, Coethnicity and Subjective Economic Position

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 156-176, March 2026.
Abstract Recent studies have found that the self‐perceived, rather than the objective, economic position affects individual political behavior. But how do individuals self‐assess their own position? In this paper, we study how local conditions – local inequality and coethnicity – affect this self‐assessment.
