The Future of Research in Cognitive Robotics: Foundation Models or Developmental Cognitive Models?

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Research in cognitive robotics founded on principles of developmental psychology and enactive cognitive science would yield what we seek in autonomous robots: the ability to perceive its environment, learn from experience, anticipate the outcome of events, act to pursue goals, and adapt to changing circumstances without resorting to training with ...

Phenomenon of implicit knowledge

open access: yesIzvestiya MGTU MAMI, 2013
The article presents the study of the current understanding of the functional features of the phenomenon of implicit knowledge, considered as an integral element of subjectivity implicit rights, as well as the problem of translation of personal knowledge to create expert systems.

Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Examining L2 Learners' Performance on Implicit and Explicit Measures: The Role of Grammaticality and Structure Difficulty [PDF]

open access: yesIssues in Language Teaching
Extensive research exists on the effects of task design features on measuring L2 learners’ implicit and explicit knowledge. However, the role of structure difficulty has received limited attention.

The Effect of Expertise on the Relation between Implicit and Explicit Attitude Measures:An formation Availability/Accessibility Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, three experiments investigate the role of expertise as a moderator of the relationship between implicit and explicit measures of attitudesobject knowledge and expertise; attitude measurement; implicit measures of attitudes; Implicit ...

Echinoderm‐Inspired Autonomy for Soft‐Legged Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Inspired by echinoderms, a modular soft robot achieves autonomous phototaxis without a central controller or explicit communication. Each limb independently adapts its actuation timing through local sensing and short‐term memory. Coordination emerges purely from physical interactions, demonstrating resilience to changes in morphology, environment, and ...

Knowledge, Explicit vs Implicit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In the scientific study of mind a distinction is drawn between explicit knowledge— knowledge that can be elicited from a subject by suitable inquiry or prompting, can be brought to consciousness, and externally expressed in words—and implicit knowledge ...

Ageing and implicit learning: explorations in contextual cuing

open access: yes, 2010
Research in cognitive ageing has found that while older adults show reductions in performance on standard explicit memory tasks, implicit memory performance remains relatively stable.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.
