Semantic Interpolation in Implicit Models
In implicit models, one often interpolates between sampled points in latent space. As we show in this paper, care needs to be taken to match-up the distributional assumptions on code vectors with the geometry of the interpolating paths. Otherwise, typical assumptions about the quality and semantics of in-between points may not be justified.

Implicit 3D Subsurface Structural Modeling by Finite Elements
International audienceWe introduce a method for implicit 3D geological structural modeling based on finite elements. Implicit modeling on tetrahedral meshes has relied on the constant-gradient regularization operator, since this operator was introduced ...

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Hydraulic behavior modeling of the simple tank using the Finite Difference Method: a comparison of four different methods [PDF]
In this paper, the hydraulic modeling of a simple surge tank with two assumptions of with or without friction condition at both gradually and suddenly valve closing is studied.

Learning in Implicit Generative Models
Generative adversarial networks (GANs) provide an algorithmic framework for constructing generative models with several appealing properties: they do not require a likelihood function to be specified, only a generating procedure; they provide samples that are sharp and compelling; and they allow us to harness our knowledge of building highly accurate ...

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Image-Based Multiresolution Implicit Object Modeling
We discuss two image-based 3D modeling methods based on a multiresolution evolution of a volumetric function′s level set. In the former method, the role of the level set implosion is to fuse ("sew" and "stitch") together several partial ...

Two approaches for automating analysis of electromagnetic processes in non-linear circuits with valves [PDF]
This article analyses and compares two approaches related to automating modeling of valve electric circuits with piecewise linear approximation of valve characteristics. The first approach is based on operator equivalent circuits’ analytical formulas and
