Reflection and Refraction on Implicit Surfaces
Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 2006Implicit surfaces are often used in computer graphics. They can be easily modeled and rendered, and many objects are composed of them in our daily life. In this paper, based on the concept of virtual objects, a novel method of real-time rendering is presented for reflection and refraction on implicit surface.

Polygonization of implicit surfaces
Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1988The paper presents a computational technique for approximation of an implicit surface \(f(P)=0\), \(P\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 3\), with a polygonal representation. The function f is adaptively sampled surrounding it by a spatial partitioning. The technique proposed allows to deal with functions f characterized by great complexity. A number of test examples is

Ridges and ravines on implicit surfaces
Proceedings. Computer Graphics International (Cat. No.98EX149), 2002Surface creases provide us with important information about the shapes of objects and can be intuitively defined as curves on a surface along which the surface bends sharply. Our mathematical description of such surface creases is based on a study of extrema of the principal curvatures along their curvature lines.

Implicit representation of molecular surfaces
2012 IEEE Pacific Visualization Symposium, 2012Molecular surfaces are an established tool to analyze and to study the evolution and interaction of molecules. One of the most advanced representations of molecular surfaces is called the solvent excluded surface. We present a novel and a simple method for representing the solvent excluded surfaces (SES).

A Survey on Implicit Surface Polygonization
ACM Computing Surveys, 2015Implicit surfaces (IS) are commonly used in image creation, modeling environments, modeling objects, and scientific data visualization. In this article, we present a survey of different techniques for fast visualization of IS. The main classes of visualization algorithms are identified along with the advantages of each in the context of the different ...

Interval Implicitization of Parametric Surfaces
2010The interval implicit representations of parametric surfaces have wide applications in Computer Graphics, Geometric Modelling, and others. Based on the properties of interval algebraic surfaces, barycentric coordinates and Bernstein basis functions, this paper presents an algorithm to compute the interval implicit representation of a rational Bezier ...

An Efficient Visualization of Implicit Surfaces
2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008In this paper, we present a novel rendering algorithm for implicit surfaces by using a particle system. First, an alternative initial technique based on bundles of parallel lines is used to find initial points that are evenly distributed on the surface. Because of its characteristics, the usual split-and-death criterion of particle system is not needed.

Anisotropic meshing of implicit surfaces
International Conference on Shape Modeling and Applications 2005 (SMI' 05), 2006This paper proposes a new grid-based method for adaptive anisotropic meshing of implicit surfaces. Grid-based methods are considered the major technique for implicit surface meshing, mainly due to their efficiency and simplicity. However, these methods suffer from a number of inherent drawbacks, resulting from the fact that the imposed Cartesian grid ...
