Womble adds to the long-standing conversation surrounding the narratological term ‘implied author’ through a look at autofiction. Using close readings of novels by Paul Auster, Philip Roth and Bret Easton Ellis, he argues that the autofictive technique used in each novel provides a new platform on which to consider the implied author.
