Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Assessments of the accumulation severities of amyloid β-protein and hyperphosphorylated tau in the medial temporal cortex of control and Alzheimer's brains

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2006
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized neuropathologically by neuritic plaques (NPs), and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). So far, the following key issues are not yet answered to the disease: (1) the accumulation degrees of three Aβ variants, and tau ...

Testing for Codependence of Non-Stationary Variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We analyze non-stationary time series that do not only trend together in the long run, but restore the equilibrium immediately in the period following a deviation.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Hedging tranches index products : illustration of model dependency [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, index tranches'properties and several hedging strategies are discussed. Model risk and correlation risk are analysed through the study of the efficiency of several factor based copula models, like the Gaussian, the double-t and the double ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

A Solution to the Time-Scale Fractional Puzzle in the Implied Volatility

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2017
In the option pricing literature, it is well known that (i) the decrease in the smile amplitude is much slower than the standard stochastic volatility models and (ii) the term structure of the at-the-money volatility skew is approximated by a power-law ...
