An aggregate import demand function for greece

Atlantic Economic Journal, 2000
This study estimates the aggregate import demand function for Greece using annual data for the period 1951–92. There are two methodological novelties in this paper. The authors find that the variables used in the aggregate import demand function are not stationary but are cointegrated.

An empirical analysis of Fiji's import demand function

Journal of Economic Studies, 2005
Purpose – This paper aims to estimate a disaggregated import demand model for Fiji using relative prices, total consumption, investment expenditure and export expenditure variables for the period 1970 to 2000.Design/methodology/approach – The recently developed bounds testing approach to cointegration to test for a long run relationship is used, while ...

An aggregate import demand function for Bangladesh: a cointegration approach [PDF]

open access: possibleApplied Economics, 1999
This paper investigates the existence of a long-run aggregate merchandise import demand function for Bangladesh during the period 1974 - 94. The cointegration and error correction modelling approaches have been applied. Empirical results suggest that there exists a unique long-run or equilibrium relationship among real quantitities of imports, real ...

Estimating the import demand function for China

Economic Modelling, 2012
Abstract This paper estimates the import demand elasticity for China using three fully efficient cointegrating regressions and the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) method. This paper is the first to accommodate the perception of global risk in an investigation of the information transmission mechanism between the relationship import demand and ...

Estimation of Import Demand Elasticities, In the BPCG Model and the Import Demand Function (The Case Study of Iran)

Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting, 2022
In this study, the demand elasticities of import are estimated, with two approaches, the balance of payments constrained growth (BPCG) or Thirlwall model and the import demand function, by using data in Iran during the period 1980 to 2018 and ARDL method.

Empirically Weighted Indexes for Import Demand Functions

The Review of Economics and Statistics, 1973
T HIS paper presents an empirical approach to the aggregation problem. An aggregate dependent variable is properly thought to depend on a long string of disaggregated explanatory variables. There are two extreme ways of analyzing an equation such as this. We may use all of the explanatory variables individually, or we may summarize them in an index and

The functional form of the aggregate import demand equation

Journal of International Economics, 1977
Abstract The theory of international trade gives little guidance on the appropriate functional form to use when specifying and estimating an import demand equation. The choice between the standard linear and log-linear specifications is thus essentially an empirical one.
