Total Synthesis of Talarolide A and atrop-Talarolide A: Hydroxamate H-Bond Bridge Stabilization of Cyclic Peptide Conformers Invokes Non-Canonical Atropisomerism

open access: yesMarine Drugs
The first total synthesis of the Australian marine tunicate fungus-derived cyclic peptide talarolide A (1) has confirmed the structure previously proposed on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical analyses and re-affirmed the importance of the unique ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Extreme Value at Risk and Expected Shortfall during Financial Crisis [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates Value at Risk and Expected Shortfall for CAC 40, S&P 500, Wheat and Crude Oil indexes during the 2008 financial crisis. We show an underestimation of the risk of loss for the unconditional VaR models as compared with the ...

Circulating Tumor Cells Enhance Prognostic Stratification Beyond ER Assessment by Biopsy or FES-PET in Endocrine-Treated Metastatic Breast Cancer

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Outcome prediction in patients with estrogen (ER)-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains challenging. We investigated whether circulating tumor cell (CTC) count adds prognostic value in ER-positive MBC using ...

A Novel Method for Improving the Robustness of Rock Acoustic Emission b Value Estimation through Data Volume Expansion

open access: yesLithosphere
Abstract The slope b in Gutenberg–Richter (G–R) relationship is an essential parameter to describe the size distribution characteristics from small-scale acoustic emission (AE) to large-scale natural earthquake. Stable and accurate b value estimation is vital when analyzing rock damage and seismic hazards through the spatial and temporal

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Modeling churn using customer lifetime value. [PDF]

open access: yes
The definition and modeling of customer loyalty have been central issues in customer relationship management since many years. Recent papers propose solutions to detect customers that are becoming less loyal, also called churners.
