Photodetector efficiency improvement

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1967
In this letter it is pointed out that a substantial improvement in the effective quantum efficiency of ordinary photodetectors can be obtained by simply tilting the detector surface to Brewster's angle. The technique is best applied to laser heterodyne systems in which the light is linearly polarized, and for which the quantum efficiency directly ...

Improving OBS efficiency

2014 16th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2014
In optical burst switching (OBS), a source node, without reserving network resources end-to-end, transmits bursts in available wavelength channels through a sequence of Optical Cross Connects (OXCs). While it saves time, OBS has a weakness that if for a given burst at a given OXC all the channels in a trunk on its route to its destination are occupied,

Efficiency improved turboprop

21st Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1983
Abstract : Renewed attention has been focused on the efficiency of aircraft propulsion as the cost of fuel has risen. Studies conducted by NASA (1) to obtain fuel efficient aircraft have considered relatively highly-loaded turbo-prop systems. The disc loadings of these propellers are as much as four times higher than those on present turboprop aircraft.

AODD efficiency improvements

World Pumps, 2011
Recent advancements in air distribution systems (ADS), including efficiency management equipment, have resulted in drastically improved overall efficiencies of air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps. This, in turn, has resulted in better reliability and very considerably improved energy cost savings, reports Curtis Dietzsch.
