Co‐Detoxification of Multiple Mycotoxins: Microbial and Enzymatic Biodegradation Processes

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
The presence of mycotoxins poses a threat to food safety. This article reviews microbial/enzymatic detoxification technologies and the main degradation pathways of key mycotoxins. We propose to overcome current bottlenecks through enzyme engineering and synthetic biology, providing a roadmap for sustainable and scalable solutions.

Yam bean (Pachyrhizus erosus) tuber processing in Benin: production and evaluation of the quality of yam bean-gari and yam bean-fortified gari [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Yam bean (Pachyrhyzus erosus) tubers were processed singly and mixed with cassava into different types of gari (100% yam bean gari, 75% yam bean gari, 50% yam bean gari and 25% yam bean gari) following the traditional gari processing method. Conventional

Effect of in situ amylase and fermented maize starch on texture and after‐cooking storability of lafun dough

open access: yesJSFA reports, Volume 6, Issue 7, Page 256-264, July 2026.
Abstract Background Lafun is made by fermenting and drying cassava chunks, which are then milled into flour and cooked into dough. Its quality characteristics are variety‐dependent, while it may become too soft or even liquefy during storage, leading to rejection by end‐users.

Production and Storage of Cassava Chips for Reconversion into Gari [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cassava chips (7% moisture level) produced from cassava root (IITA 94/0561) was stored for 6 months in high density polyethylene bag. Stored chips were coarse milled, rehydrated to 62.51% and seeded with fresh cassava mash (FCM) at levels of 5%, 10% and ...

The Moniliophthora roreri Effector MrB1 Affects Cellular Homeostasis and Induces Genotype‐Dependent Necrosis in Theobroma cacao

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
The effector MrB1 induces cytotoxicity in plant cells through oxidative stress, membrane damage, protein folding collapse, and energy failure. These alterations compromise cellular integrity and result in necrosis. ABSTRACT Frosty pod rot (FPR) is an invasive disease responsible for severe yield losses of cacao trees.

Cassava production systems optimized for double output: Seed‐cuttings and root yields

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a strategic crop for food security but continues to face major challenges related to low root yields and the lack of optimized systems for producing high‐quality seed‐cuttings. This study evaluated the effects of different planting densities, varieties, and agrochemical‐based seed‐cutting treatments ...

Yield, stability, and plasticity of Arabica coffee genotypes under contrasting pruning systems

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Coffee yield instability caused by biennial bearing causes coffee yield instability, reducing production predictability and farm income. Biennial drastic pruning (Zero Crop), which alternates harvest and no‐harvest years, has been proposed to reduce this instability, but its benefits depend on genotype performance under contrasting management.
