CO2–N2 Mixture Viscosity Modelling Using Machine Learning: Towards Sustainable Carbon Capture and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Accurate determination of the viscosity of carbon dioxide (CO2) mixed with nitrogen (N2) is vital for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS/CCS). The determination of this important thermophysical property is usually through costly and time‐consuming experiments, which is not ideal for field recovery planning and

Three‐Level NF‐TDN Controller for AGC in Thermal‐Hydro‐Gas Power Systems Integrated With TCPS Under Nonlinear Conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Automatic generation control (AGC) is vital for preserving frequency and power balance in modern interconnected power systems (IPSs), which are increasingly challenged by nonlinear dynamics, parameter uncertainties, and unpredictable load variations.

Marshall–Olkin Alpha Power Transformed Extended‐X Distribution and Its Applications

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper introduces the Marshall–Olkin Alpha Power Transformed Extended‐X (MOAPTE‐X) family of distributions, a highly flexible class designed to address limitations of existing models. We develop a novel four‐parameter distribution, called the Marshall–Olkin Alpha Power Transformed Extended‐Inverted Kumaraswamy (MOAPTE‐IK), with one scale parameter ...

Flyway‐Scale Assessment of Habitat Suitability and Key Environmental Drivers for Waterbirds in Southern China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study assessed the distribution of suitable habitats and ecological drivers for 47 waterbird species in eastern and southern China (south of the 800 mm isohyet), revealing a clear coastal‐to‐inland gradient, with NDVI and DEM identified as key environmental variables. Different ecological groups exhibited distinct habitat preferences.

Deep learning‐based seabird detection in fisheries for seabird protection

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 2082-2102, December 2025.
ABSTRACT New Zealand is considered to be the ‘seabird capital’ of the world. As part of the harvesting process, some commercial fishers accidentally bycatch seabirds during fishing operations, which can result in accidental deaths and injuries. The accidental bycatch is impacting the long‐term sustainability of New Zealand seabird populations.
