AbstractGrowing research shows that the impulse control disorders are much more common than once thought to be. The consistency of the ‘structure’ of the irresistible impulse (a core disturbance of impulsivity and compulsivity) together with increasing research showing that it responds to certain treatments, especially cognitivebehavioural ...

Neurobiology of impulsivity and the impulse control disorders
The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 1993Clinical impulsivity has been characterized in both dimensional and categorical terms. Summary: In this paper, the concept and principles of impulsive control are presented. Impulsive control can be applied to a class of systems whose state variables are changeable in a very short time period. In particular, the asymptotic stability of the impulsive control of a nonlinear system is given.
