Impurity-induced states in conventional and unconventional superconductors [PDF]
We review recent developments in our understanding of how impurities influence the electronic states in the bulk of superconductors. Our focus is on the quasi-localized states in the vicinity of impurity sites in conventional and unconventional ...

Association of the ICH Score With Withdrawal of Life‐Sustaining Treatment Over a 10‐Year Period
ABSTRACT Objective The intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) score was developed to enhance provider communication and facilitate early severity assessment. We examined the association of the ICH score with mortality and withdrawal of life‐sustaining treatment (WLST) in a large, multicenter stroke registry, and evaluated temporal trends in these associations.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Multichannel Kondo impurity dynamics in a Majorana device. [PDF]
We study the multichannel Kondo impurity dynamics realized in a mesoscopic superconducting island connected to metallic leads. The effective "impurity spin" is nonlocally realized by Majorana bound states and strongly coupled to lead electrons by non ...

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

Simulation of W dust transport in the KSTAR tokamak, comparison with fast camera data
In this paper, dust transport in tokamak plasmas is studied through both experimental and modeling aspects. Image processing routines allowing dust tracking on CCD camera videos are presented.

Dielectric screening in two-dimensional insulators: Implications for excitonic and impurity states in graphane [PDF]
For atomic thin layer insulating materials we provide an exact analytic form of the two-dimensional (2D) screened potential. In contrast to three-dimensional systems where the macroscopic screening can be described by a static dielectric constant, in 2D ...

Deformation Behavior of La2O3‐Doped Copper during Equal Channel Angular Pressing
By additions of strengthening elements and/or structure optimization, the mechanical properties of copper can be increased while keeping favorable electric conductivity. By combining addition of La2O3 and processing by equal channel angular pressing, substructure development is achieved, leading to increase in microhardness to more than double the ...
