Suspended liquid particle disturbance on laser-induced blast wave and low density distribution [PDF]
The impurity effect of suspended liquid particles on the laser-induced gas breakdown was experimentally investigated in quiescent gas. The focus of this study is the investigation of the influence of the impurities on the shock wave structure as well as ...

Controllable Dynamic Mechanical Cell Stimulation using Magnetically Actuated Artificial Cilia
This paper introduces a platform based on magnetic artificial cilia for providing controllable dynamic mechanical stimulation to single cells, suitable for investigating large cell populations and enabling live cell imaging. Proof‐of‐principle experiments show that cell morphology is strongly influenced by the artificial cilia, that cellular forces can

Enrichment of impurities seeded for exhaust control in a spherical tokamak power plant geometry
Through SOLPS-ITER simulations, we have investigated the ability of seeded argon and neon impurities to effectively control divertor power loading in a power-plant-class spherical tokamak geometry.

Impact of seeded plasma impurities on D retention in RAFM steels
The effect of He seeding (He+ ion fraction, cHe+, of ~5 and ~10%) to D plasma (ion flux ~ 1.5–2 × 1021 m−2s−1, sample temperature ~ 373 K, and incident ion energy ~ 100 eV) on D retention in various reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM) steels ...

Impurity transport studies in ASDEX by means of neon-seeded pellets [PDF]
Neon-seeded deuterium pellets, containing 1% neon, were successfully produced and injected into ASDEX divertor discharges. The behaviour of the deposited neon ions was studied by VUV spectroscopy, using a special version of the ASDEX/JET impurity transport code for interpretation.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Study on divertor detachment and pedestal characteristics in the DIII-D upper closed divertor
Experiments performed in DIII-D demonstrate that higher plasma current and heating power combined with impurity seeding facilitate the achievement of divertor detachment with a higher pedestal pressure and higher plasma performance in H-mode plasmas with

Effective theory for the propagation of a wave-packet in a disordered and nonlinear medium [PDF]
The propagation of a wave-packet in a nonlinear disordered medium exhibits interesting dynamics. Here, we present an analysis based on the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation (Gross-Pitaevskii equation).

Poking Pluripotency: Nanoinjection Into Human iPSCs
Nanoinjection into hiPSCs: silicon nanotubes effectively transfect human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) with mRNA, enabled by a delayed extracellular matrix application and enhanced surface functionalization. Nanoinjection is demonstrated with several reporter mRNA, including co‐transfection of mCherry and GFP.

Neon radiation efficiency for different confinement regimes in TEXTOR-94 [PDF]
For neon seeded discharges the quantity [DeltaP(rad)/DeltaZ(eff)(0)]/)over bar>(2)(e0), which depends linearly on the effective neon cooling rates and which can be taken as a measure of the radiation efficiency of neon, is not a constant for a given ...
