Effects of divertor geometry on detachment and core plasma performance with impurity seeding in EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Divertor detachment operation compatible with the core plasma is an effective method to alleviate the steady-state heat flux approaching the divertor target; this scheme will be adopted by high-performance tokamaks in the future, such as International ...

Seeds of impurity

open access: yeslo Squaderno, 2015
Ai Weiwei’s art installation Kui Hua Zi [Sunflower Seeds] took place between 2010 and 2011 in the gigantic Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern Gallery, in London. It consisted of 100 millions hand-crafted porcelain seeds made in Jingdezhen, China.1 An uneven surface to dive into, a haptic space of undulating vision, rustling steps, unusual horizontality, a

Comparison of divertor seed impurity gases retention efficiency by SOLPS-ITER modeling

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
In the paper a SOLPS-ITER modeling of H-Mode scenarios with different seed impurity gases (N, Ne, Ar, Kr) is performed for ASDEX Upgrade geometry. These gases are compared from the point of view of their radiation efficiency and compression in the ...

METHOD FOR CLEANING AMARANTH SEEDS FROM IMPURITIES

open access: yesТехника и технология пищевых производств, 2017
The article is devoted to the development of a method for cleaning of amaranth seeds from impurities to prepare them for grinding into food grade flour. The method of air-sieve cleaning amaranth grain takes into account the size and content of individual fractions that differ in size but not in color, which worsens the quality of the grinding products.

Testing of the SOLPS-ITER code at Globus-M2 spherical tokamak with detached divertor

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In according to a present understanding of Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) physics, future thermonuclear devices like ITER, DEMO and beyond, require high radiation regimes in order to reduce heat loads on tokamak divertor. Recent experiments at ASDEX Upgrade, JET

Impact of gas injection location and divertor surface material on ITER fusion power operation phase divertor performance assessed with SOLPS-ITER

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The ITER divertor design and performance assessment, primarily based on the SOLPS-4.3 burning plasma database (Pitts R. et al 2019 Nucl. Mater. Energy   20 100696), assumes the use of beryllium (Be) as the divertor surface material and the injection of ...

Evaluation of SPARC divertor conditions in H-mode operation using SOLPS-ITER

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The predicted divertor conditions for the SPARC tokamak are calculated using SOLPS-ITER for a range of scrape-off-layer (SOL) heat flux widths λ _q , input powers, and particle fueling locations.

EMC3-EIRENE simulations of edge plasma and impurity transport by toroidally localized argon seeding on CFETR X-divertor

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The three-dimensional (3D) edge Monte Carlo transport code EMC3-EIRENE has been employed to study edge plasma and impurity transport with toroidally localized argon seeding using the Chinese fusion engineering testing reactor (CFETR) X-divertor ...

Analysis of Radiative Mantle Formation by Impurity Seeding in ITER

open access: yesPlasma and Fusion Research, 2010
In order to reduce high heat load on divertor plate in fusion reactors, we investigated radiative mantle formation scenarios by impurity seeding into scrape off layer (SOL) in ITER using the TOTAL simulation code. The low-Z impurity, like He, could not form a radiative mantle and have almost no contribution to the reduction of divertor heat load.
