Model-based impurity emission front control using deuterium fueling and nitrogen seeding in TCV

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2022
This paper presents the first result using nitrogen-seeded exhaust feedback control of the NII impurity emission front in TCV. The NII emission front position is consistently located below its commonly used CIII counterpart, indicating the NII emission ...

3D modeling of boron transport in DIII-D L-mode wall conditioning experiments

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2021
DIII-D L-mode experiments with local boron powder injection for real-time wall conditioning have been interpreted for the first time with the 3D plasma edge transport Monte Carlo code EMC3-EIRENE.

Impacts of recycling impurity on the background ELM behavior during repetitive radiative divertor experiments in EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
A significant change in the background ELM behavior prior to neon (Ne) seeding has been observed in a series of repetitive radiative divertor experiments in EAST.

Impurity transport studies in ASDEX by means of neon-seeded pellets [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 1989
Neon-seeded deuterium pellets, containing 1% neon, were successfully produced and injected into ASDEX divertor discharges. The behaviour of the deposited neon ions was studied by VUV spectroscopy, using a special version of the ASDEX/JET impurity transport code for interpretation.

Effects of argon on deuterium retention in polycrystalline tungsten under single, sequential and simultaneous ion irradiation

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2019
Argon is one of the candidates for impurity seeding in the ITER divertor; however, few studies exist on either Ar retention in W, or its effect on D retention in W.

Tungsten erosion and divertor leakage from the DIII-D SAS-VW tungsten-coated divertor in experiments with neon gas seeding

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2023
Collector probes have been used to examine tungsten divertor leakage in a variety of scenarios with low-Z impurity seeding during operation with the new tungsten-coated SAS-VW divertor in DIII-D.

Management of localized energy in discrete nonlinear transmission lines

open access: yes, 2007
The manipulation of locked intrinsic localized modes/discrete breathers is studied experimentally in nonlinear electric transmission line arrays. Introducing a static lattice impurity in the form of a capacitor, resistor or inductor has been used both to

Growth process of nano-tendril bundles with sputtered tungsten

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2019
Nano-tendril bundles (NTBs) were generated in DC He plasma with impurity gas-seeding (Ne and N2) under sputtering-dominated conditions. NTB morphologies were characterized using the net erosion yield of samples.

Integration of high confinement, high poloidal beta plasma with dual radiated power and detachment controls for divertor protection and ELM suppression

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2023
Divertor detachment without serious core confinement quality loss in DIII-D’s high poloidal β scenario has been combined with impurity-induced ELM mitigation without disruption.

High Vacuum Deposition of Biferrocene Thin Films on Room Temperature Substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
: Metallocenes are a promising candidate for future spintronic devices due to their versatile and tunable magnetic properties. However, single metallocenes, e.g., ferrocene, sublimate below room temperature, and therefore the implementation for future ...
