Hierarchical Twist: Chirality Across Scales in Cellulose Cholesterics
Advanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 4, 27 January 2026.Hierarchical left‐ and right‐handed chiral nematic structures are observed in a solvent‐free thermotropic cellulose derivative. Free‐standing films show hierarchical twisted structures whose pitches respond differently to uniaxial strain: left‐handed pitches increase, ones decrease.

Advanced Science, EarlyView.Glycosylation, specifically hypersialylation, is identified as a critical factor in human intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration—a major cause of low back pain. This study demonstrates that inhibiting sialylation reduces inflammation and oxidative stress in IVD tissues, suggesting new therapeutic possibilities.

Advanced Science, EarlyView.TMEM131 recruits the COPII complex to accelerate TRAIL transportation from endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi apparatus, and promotes soluble TRAIL secretion. TRAIL inhibits mitophagy and induces senescence through DR5 receptor in type II alveolar epithelial cells, ultimately driving radiation‐induced lung injury (RILI) progression.
