Don't You Worry 'Bout a Packet:Unified Programming for In-Network Computing
In-network computing is gaining momentum as programmable switches are increasingly employed for compute acceleration. Designed for packet processing, data plane programming languages force developers to express compute in networking terms, resulting in a

Genetic regulatory networks have the complex task of controlling all aspects of life. Using a model of gene expression by piecewise linear differential equations we show that this process can be considered as a process of computation. This is demonstrated by showing that this model can simulate memory bounded Turing machines.

Addressing network heterogeneity in pervasive application environments [PDF]
Pervasive computing applications typically involve rich interactions and heterogeneous network types; e.g. involving the collation of data from a sensor network into a replicated repository in a fixed network.

Holistic In-Network Acceleration for Heavy-Tailed Storage Workloads
Storage workloads are typically heavy-tailed, and a small number of large requests incur a burdensome performance overhead. To this end, we present NetStore, an in-network storage accelerator that exploits the capability of emerging programmable switches.

Drone Swarms as Networked Control Systems by Integration of Networking and Computing
The study of multi-agent systems such as drone swarms has been intensified due to their cooperative behavior. Nonetheless, automating the control of a swarm is challenging as each drone operates under fluctuating wireless, networking and environment ...

Service consumption planning for efficient service migration in mobile edge computing environments
Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is the concept of placing a cloud computing server to run at the network edge near the user. The faster the user moves, the higher the probability of leaving the coverage of an MEC server.

Towards a Semantic Grid Computing Platform for Disaster Management in Built Environment [PDF]
Current disaster management procedures rely primarily on heuristics which result in their strategies being very cautious and sub-optimum in terms of saving life, minimising damage and returning the building to its normal function. Also effective disaster
