Minimum stress and pore fluid pressure in sedimentary basins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Leak-off pressures (LOPs) recorded during leak-off tests (LOTs) conducted down boreholes are often used to estimate the magnitude of the minimum stress (usually assumed to be horizontal – S(_h)) in the subsurface.

A Magneto‐Mechanically Activated Nerve Guidance Conduit Promotes Peripheral Nerve Regeneration via TIMP1‐Mediated Membrane Tension Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a magneto‐mechanical strategy that incorporates FP@MSCs into an aligned PCL/GelMA nerve guidance conduit. Magnetic stimulation increases membrane tension in FP@MSCs, triggering cytoskeletal remodeling, Schwann cell‐like differentiation, and TIMP1 secretion. TIMP1 activates ITGB1/CD63–FAK signaling in NE‐4C cells, increasing membrane

Changes in Lateral Stress During Slurry Trench Wall Installation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
PhDThe thesis is concerned with the effects of slurry trenching (diaphragm wall installation) in an overconsolidated clay, with particular emphasis on the changes in lateral stress which occur. A review of the literature on diaphragm wall installation

Ultrafast Optoacoustics Reveals Intricate 3D Anisotropic Elasticity in Nanocrystalline Membranes. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Ultrafast optoacoustic spectroscopy combined with a Sagnac interferometer enables non‐contact, simultaneous characterization of thickness and the full three‐dimensional anisotropic elastic constants in freestanding nanocrystalline copper membranes. By capturing gigahertz Lamb waves and zero‐group‐velocity resonances followed by SAFE‐GA inversion, the ...

In-situ stress measurement and inversion analysis of a large hydropower project in southeast Tibet

open access: yesDizhi lixue xuebao, 2023
As a control and regulating project, the hydropower station in the Yigongzangbu basin of Tibet plays a vital role in meeting the electricity demand of the Tibetan power grid. Identifying this hydropower station’s present-day in-situ stress environment and understanding the characteristics of in-situ stress distribution at critical locations such as ...

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Conjugated Porphyrin Polymer With Superior Charge Transfer for Photodynamic‐Immunomodulatory Prevention of CIED Infection in Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Under NIR irradiation, PTCPP generates ROS to eliminate MRSA biofilms and promote M1 macrophage polarization for phagocytosis. After bacterial clearance, the material is phagocytosed by macrophages, shifting their polarization to M2 phenotype via metabolic reprogramming, which synergistically enhances anti‐infection therapy and wound healing.

Stress State Change Monitoring Using Displacement Change Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A method to back calculate stress state change was developed in Dynamic Control of Underground Mining Operations (DynaMine) research project. The purpose of this method is to provide real-time estimates of the stress state change caused by excavation. In
