Photovoltaic Cleaning Optimization: A Simplified Theoretical Approach for Air to Water Generator (AWG) System Employment

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Photovoltaic panel efficiency can be heavily affected by soiling, due to dust and other airborne particles, which can determine up to 50% of energy production loss. Generally, it is possible to reduce that impact by means of periodic cleaning, and one of

Development of capture efficacy test method for in-water cleaning system using artificial barnacles

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The International Maritime Organization has adopted a revision to the 2023 International Maritime Organization biofouling guidelines and has been discussing the development of guidelines for evaluating the efficacy of in-water cleaning systems.

Debris capture during in-water cleaning of ship biofouling

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Ship biofouling interferes with vessel operations and spreads non-indigenous species. While in-water cleaning (IWC) with debris capture is increasingly promoted as a management strategy, key elements remain poorly defined, including which materials must ...

Clean Water User Behavior for Clean Water Savings in Topoyo Mamuju

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze people’s behavior in using clean water based on their water source and the factors that influence that behavior. This research method through data collection is done by observing the level of education, type of work, income level, number of people, analysis of the relationship between ...

Efficiency of cleaning procedure of milking equipment and bacterial quality of milk

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
The cleaning and sanitation of milking equipment could be consider a critical point in the milking procedure because a cleaning failure could influence the level of bacteria contamination of bulk tank milk.

Cleaning of Floating Photovoltaic Systems: A Critical Review on Approaches from Technical and Economic Perspectives

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
There are some environmental factors, such as ambient temperature, dust, etc., which cause a reduction in the efficiency of Photovoltaic (PV) systems. Installation of PV panels on the water surface, commonly known as Floating Photovoltaic (FPV) systems ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Estimating total microplastic loads to the marine environment as a result of ship biofouling in-water cleaning

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The widespread use of polymers across various industries has led to significant microplastic pollution in marine environments, with millions of tons of microplastics being released annually.

Identification of the plant mitochondrial OrfX protein: A mass spectrometry approach

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mitochondrial genome of plants contains an open reading frame, orfx, which encodes a rare protein that has so far escaped mass spectrometric detection. The protein resembles the c‐subunit of bacterial twin‐arginine‐motif‐dependent protein translocases (TatC).

Development of Biological Risk Assessment Protocols for Evaluating the Risks of In-Water Cleaning of Hull-Fouling Organisms

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Herein, we evaluate the scientific basis for managing hull fouling of ships entering Korean ports, diagnose biological risks that may occur when in-water cleaning (IWC) systems remove hull fouling, and present a protocol for evaluating these risks (the ...
