Design of the wheeled robot motor controller
2012 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communications Systems, 2012This paper proposed a speed controller design for a DC motor by using a FPGA chip and applies it on a wheeled robot. For the motor accelerating control, this paper proposed a hardware PI controller circuit module to achieve the accelerating control. On the motor decelerating control, this paper proposed a braked deceleration circuit module to improve ...

Torque blending and wheel slip control in EVs with in-wheel motors
Vehicle System Dynamics, 2012Among the many opportunities offered by electric vehicles (EVs), the design of power trains based on in-wheel electric motors represents, from the vehicle dynamics point of view, a very attractive prospect, mainly due to the torque-vectoring capabilities.

In-wheel brushless DC motor for a wheel chair drive
2010 Joint International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems & 2010 Power India, 2010A gear-less drive for a wheel chair based on brushless DC motor is presented. The motor has external rotor equipped with neodymium-based permanent magnets and the inner stator is attached to the wheel axle. The performance of the motor is determined using three-dimensional FEM modeling. They are validated by the experimental measurements carried out on

Molecule Concept Nanocars: Chassis, Wheels, and Motors?
ACS Nano, 2013The design, synthesis, and running of a molecular nanovehicle on a surface assisted by proper nanocommunication channels for feeding and guiding the vehicle now constitute an active field of research and are no longer a nano-joke. In this Perspective, we describe how this field began, its growth, and problems to be solved.

Development of In-wheel Motor for Vehicles
2019 IEEE Conference of Russian Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EIConRus), 2019The design of a synchronous motor with a distributed winding and an outer rotor as an in-wheel electric motor for vehicles is proposed.Distributed winding is manufactured using frameless winding technology. The in-wheel motor is designed for use as a traction drive of vehicles (land, water, air). The innovation comprises the development of a new ...

Catalytic Wheel as a Brownian Motor
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2004A system is considered in which transitions between two states occur through two reaction channels. Because of coupling with an external process which consists of cyclic switching between two regimes (each characterized by a certain fixed set of rate constants), the net circulation flux arises in the system even in the absence of an external ...

Reliability Improvements for In-Wheel Motor
Setting up a reliable electric propulsion system in the automotive sector requires an intelligent condition monitoring device capable of reliably assessing the state and the health of the electric motor. To allow for a massive integration of such monitoring devices, they must be inexpensive and small. These requirements limit their accuracy.Petelin, Gašper +6 more

Structural Integrity of In-Wheel Motors
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2018<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In-wheel motors offer an optimized solution for novel drivetrain architectures of future electric vehicles that could penetrate into the mainstream automotive industry, moving the wheel actuation where it’s required, directly inside the wheels.

AT THE END of the 19th century, Ferdinand Porsche in Vienna and Joseph Ledwinka and Fred Newman in Chicago attached an electric motor to each wheel of their horseless carriages to provide power simply, efficiently, and controllably. These automotive pioneers hardly expected that electric propulsion would soon wither and that ever more complex hardware ...
