A large volume cell for in situ neutron diffraction studies of hydrothermal crystallizations [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2010
A hydrothermal cell with 320 ml internal volume has been designed and constructed for in situ neutron diffraction studies of hydrothermal crystallizations. The cell design adopts a dumbbell configuration assembled with standard commercial stainless steel components and a zero-scattering Ti–Zr alloy sample compartment.

Displacive In‐Plane Ferroelectricity with Domain‐Specific Curie Temperature in Van der Waals Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...

Kinetically Stabilized Cation Arrangement in Li3YCl6 Superionic Conductor during Solid‐State Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2021
The main approach for exploring metastable materials is via trial‐and‐error synthesis, and there is limited understanding of how metastable materials are kinetically stabilized.

New High‐Tc Charge‐Transfer Multiferroicity in the Quasi‐2D Antiferromagnet CrSbS3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low‐dimensional magnets, particularly 2D systems, offer a rich platform for realizing unconventional multiferroic mechanisms, especially when multiple polarization channels coexist. In the quasi‐2D antiferromagnet CrSbS3, which crystallizes in the centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Pnma and orders magnetically at TN ≈ 90 K, two ...

New single-toroidal sintered diamond anvil and assembly for high pressure neutron diffraction

open access: yesNuclear Analysis
In-situ high pressure neutron diffraction experiments, which require a large volume samples, remain challenging, particularly when generating simultaneous high pressure-temperature (P-T) conditions.

Reversible melting and equilibrium phase formation of (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+d

open access: yes, 2002
The decomposition and the reformation of the (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+d (?Bi,Pb(2223)?) phase have been investigated in-situ by means of High-Temperature Neutron Diffraction, both in sintered bulk samples and in Ag-sheathed monofilamentary tapes.

Microstructure‐Resolved Modeling to Predicting and Regulating Lithium Plating‐Stripping Dynamics on Graphite Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The lithium plating reaction in graphite electrodes acts as a root cause for the accelerated degradation and the internal short circuits in lithium‐ion batteries. Here, an electrochemical model based on multi‐scale microstructural images was established to identify lithium plating‐stripping processes, thereby supporting the predictive outcomes

Site‐Selective B─H Activation via HAT Toward Xanthyl‐closo‐Carboranes as Bench‐Stable Precursors of Organosulfur Boron Clusters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A light mediated direct regioselective B─H functionalization, via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), is described. Unexplored xanthyl‐closo‐carboranes as novel bench‐stable and versatile platforms to access sulfur‐containing boron clusters are reported for the first time.
