In-situ and remote observations of CMEs [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2006
We present studies on a series of ICMEs detected by Ulysses and for which the solar sources on the Sun could be identified. EUV and white light data are used in order to correlate characteristics seen during eruption with those measured in-situ. Particularly, an attempt was made to find solar features that show a relationship with the type of ICME seen

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

In situ observation of picosecond polaron self-localisation in α-Fe2O3 photoelectrochemical cells

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Hematite (α-Fe2O3) is the most studied artificial oxygen-evolving photo-anode and yet its efficiency limitations and their origin remain unknown. A sub-picosecond reorganisation of the hematite structure has been proposed as the mechanism which dictates ...

Detection of a weak meddy-like anomaly from high-resolution satellite SST maps

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2012
Despite the considerable impact of meddies on climate through the long-distance transport of properties, a consistent observation of meddy generation and propagation in the ocean is rather elusive.

A Sponge-dwelling Ribbon Worm, Tetrastemma carneum sp. nov. (Nemertea: Monostilifera) Collected off Ofunato, Japan

open access: yesSpecies Diversity, 2023
Monostiliferous nemerteans are mostly benthic and free-living, but a few are recognized as commensal and parasitic species. We describe Tetrastemma carneum sp. nov.

In-Situ Observations of Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking

open access: yesVolume 6: Materials and Fabrication, Parts A and B, 2008
The development and validation of predictive models for intergranular stress corrosion cracking requires knowledge of short crack growth kinetics in response to mechanical driving forces. A new experimental method for in-situ observation of the early stages of crack growth during stress corrosion cracking, via full field Digital Image Correlation, is ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

In-Situ TEM Study of a Nanoporous Ni–Co Catalyst Used for the Dry Reforming of Methane

open access: yesMetals, 2017
We performed in-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) on a dealloyed nanoporous NiCo catalyst used for the dry reforming of methane (DRM) to investigate the origin of the catalytic activity and structural durability.

Behavior of MnS inclusions during homogenization process in low-alloyed steel FAS3420H

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2021
Sulfur is added to low-alloyed steel FAS3420H to improve the free-cutting property of the steel. Elongated MnS inclusions usually deteriorate the mechanical and process performance of steels, so the control of shape and size of MnS is essential.
