SCD5 restored expression favors differentiation and epithelial-mesenchymal reversion in advanced melanoma [PDF]
Our previous data supported a role for the Stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD5) in protection against malignancy, whereby it appears to functionally modify tumor stroma impairing tumor spread.

Site-specific identification and quantitation of endogenous SUMO modifications under native conditions. [PDF]
Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) modification regulates numerous cellular processes. Unlike ubiquitin, detection of endogenous SUMOylated proteins is limited by the lack of naturally occurring protease sites in the C-terminal tail of SUMO proteins ...

Sex hormone-binding globulin regulation of androgen bioactivity in vivo : validation of the free hormone hypothesis [PDF]
Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is the high-affinity binding protein for androgens and estrogens. According to the free hormone hypothesis, SHBG modulates the bioactivity of sex steroids by limiting their diffusion into target tissues.

Formation and Function of the Rbl2p-beta-Tubulin Complex [PDF]
The yeast protein Rbl2p suppresses the deleterious effects of excess beta-tubulin as efficiently as does alpha-tubulin. Both in vivo and in vitro, Rbl2p forms a complex with beta-tubulin that does not contain alpha-tubulin, thus defining a second pool of

Future of 5-fluorouracil in cancer therapeutics, current pharmacokinetics issues and a way forward [PDF]
Background: In addition to exhibiting antitumor potential, antitumor drugs exhibit toxicity due to a poor pharmacokinetic profile. An enormous amount of research has been carried out and is still ongoing to obtain more targeted, potent, and safe drugs to
