Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Clinical Ecology—Transforming 21st-Century Medicine with Planetary Health in Mind
Four decades ago, several health movements were sprouting in isolation. In 1980, the environmental group Friends of the Earth expanded the World Health Organization definition of health, reminding citizenry that, “health is a state of complete ...

- In Vivo Dosimetry in Brachytherapy [PDF]
As discussed in the following sections, in vivo dosimetry has been utilized for dierent purposes during the radiation therapy of cancer patients. Initially, this technique was used to verify dose to the organs adjacent to the implanted volume. However, verications of the accuracy of the treatment delivery for complex treatment techniques have been ...

Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

[[abstract]]Numerous studies have shown that phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) induces apoptosis of different types of human cancer cell lines, however, there are no reports showing that PEITC inhibits tumor growth in a xenograft model of melanoma in nude

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
