Atrial detection and timing for atrioventricular synchronous pacing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Dual chamber pacing can be employed to restore atrioventricular synchrony in patients with heart block; and chronotropic incompetence and sinus bradycardia in those with sinus node dysfunction (SND).

Device‐Specific Responses to Pacemaker‐Mediated Arrhythmia in Patients With Prolonged Ventriculoatrial Conduction: A Comparative Simulation Study

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
Simulation‐based comparison of five pacemakers reveals that algorithmic differences via manufacturers significantly affect detection and termination of pacemaker‐mediated arrhythmias during prolonged ventriculoatrial conduction. Devices with a longer post‐ventricular atrial refractory period and an atrial pacing delay algorithm offer better protection ...

Anomalous Origin of the Left Coronary System From the Right Coronary Cusp: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The early recognition of this rare coronary anomaly using multiple imaging modalities such as CCTA provided invaluable information to better stratify the risk, clarify prognosis, and deliver the most appropriate intervention.

Case Report: Pseudo-wide QRS complex tachycardia in an infant with complex congenital heart disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics
The initial electrocardiogram (ECG) of a 5-month-old infant with complex congenital heart disease (pulmonary valvular stenosis, ventricular septal defects, and patent ductus arteriosus) revealed a regular wide QRS tachycardia at 169 bpm, initially ...

A Young Female Who Develops Tachycardia and Orthostatic Intolerance Following a Recent Infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Case Presentation The patient is a 20-year-old female with a history of asthma and anxiety with panic attacks who presented with palpitations and lightheadedness/pre-syncope. The morning of admission, she was attending a seminar and experienced an acute

Wide QRS Tachycardia in WPW: When Antidromic AVRT Imitates VT

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Atrioventricular Re‐entry Tachycardia (AVRT) occurs in patients with accessory pathways (AP) via a re‐entry circuit between the AV node and the AP. Anterograde conduction through the AP causes antidromic AVRT with wide QRS complexes, which may mimic ventricular tachycardia (VT). We report a 59‐year‐old male with ischemic cardiomyopathy (EF 35%)

Heart rate variability in inappropriate sinus tachycardia

open access: yesThe American Journal of Cardiology, 1998
Analysis of heart rate variability in patients with inappropriate sinus tachycardia showed a 24-hour decrease in all temporal and spectral indexes, even after attempted correction to a rate of 75 beats/min. This may have resulted from a global decrease in parasympathetic activity or from a rapid sinus rate produced by other ill-defined mechanisms.

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome Presenting With Recurrent Syncope After Cervical Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Syncope is a manifestation of autonomic dysfunction after high spinal cord injury. However, it is rarely reported as a feature of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) after spinal cord injury. This case report describes a male in his 50s suffering from C2 spinal cord injury who developed recurrent postural syncope post‐injury ...
