Inception of Self-Interacting Dark Matter with Dark Charge Conjugation Symmetry

open access: yes, 2017
A new understanding of the stability of self-interacting dark matter is pointed out, based on the simplest spontaneously broken Abelian $U(1)$ gauge model with one complex scalar and one Dirac fermion. The key is the imposition of dark charge conjugation

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

MSEI-ENet: A Multi-Scale EEG-Inception Integrated Encoder Network for Motor Imagery EEG Decoding

open access: yesBrain Sciences
Background: Due to complex signal characteristics and distinct individual differences, the decoding of a motor imagery electroencephalogram (MI-EEG) is limited by the unsatisfactory performance of suboptimal traditional models.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Artificial intelligence-driven glaucoma screening in ophthalmology: The GlaucoNet deep learning framework

open access: yesAfrican Vision and Eye Health
Background: Glaucoma is a significant cause of permanent blindness in the world, and it is usually unnoticed at its initial stages. Deep learning allows scaling flexible quality screening of retinal fundus images to detect and implement effective ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Ultrasonic evaluation of high voltage circuit boards [PDF]

open access: yes
Preliminary observations indicate that an ultrasonic scanning technique may be useful as a quick, low cost, nondestructive method for judging the quality of circuit board materials for high voltage applications.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
