Nanomaterial disposal by incineration
As nanotechnology-based products enter into widespread use, nanomaterials will end up in disposal waste streams that are ultimately discharged to the environment. One possible end-of-life scenario is incineration. This review attempts to ascertain the potential pathways by which nanomaterials may enter incinerator waste streams and the fate of these ...

The health impacts of waste-to-energy emissions: a systematic review of the literature
Waste-to-energy (WtE) processes, or the combustion of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for energy generation, has the potential to reduce landfill volume while providing a renewable energy source. We aimed to systematically review and summarise current evidence

On the emission of ultra fine particles from municipal solid waste (MSW) incinerators [PDF]
Nationally approved emission factors of mass versus particle size for particulate emissions from UK MSW incinerators when converted to particle number versus size, indicate that nearly all (>90\%) of the emitted particles are ultra fine particles (ufps) < .1 micron in size. A similar result is true also of US MSW incinerators emissions.

From Plastic Waste to Treasure: Selective Upcycling through Catalytic Technologies [PDF]
The huge amount of plastic wastes has become a pressing global environmental problem, leading to severe environmental pollution and resource depletion through conventional downcycling technologies like incineration and landfilling. In contrast, selective upcycling of various plastics offers a promising solution for converting waste plastics into ...

Numerical Simulation on Influencing Factors of Co-firing of Municipal Solid Waste and Leather
Incineration is an important method of recycling municipal solid waste (MSW). As an industrial waste, leather has a higher calorific value and more combustible components than MSW.

A model for consecutive spallation and fragmentation reactions in inverse kinematics at relativistic energies [PDF]
Secondary reactions induced by relativistic beams in inverse kinematics in a thick target are relevant in several fields of experimental physics and technology, like secondary radioactive beams, production of exotic nuclei close to the proton drip line, and cross-section measurements for applications of spallation reactions for energy production and ...
