An Aerodynamic Assessment of Vehicle-Side Wall Interaction using Numerical Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The effects of induced pressure loads from a realistic vehicle onto the surface of a road-side wall are numerically investigated. Parameters such as vehicle speeds, vehicle-wall separation distances and the effects of inclined walls are examined to ...

Microstructural evolution under low shear rates during Rheo processing of LM25 alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
© ASM InternationalMicrostructural features of LM25 alloy processed by two different routes: (1) conventional casting, and(2)shear casting based on inclined heated surface are studied.

Surface roughness effect on droplet impact characterization: Experimental and theoretical study

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2019
In this paper, the effect of surface roughness on the both normal and inclined droplet impact is investigated experimentally by image processing.  The impingement of water droplets with 2.9 mm diameter and 1m/s velocity impacting on three types of ...

Investigating the effect of shot peening parameters on the peened surface damage using FEA

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
Shot peening is a cold working process that generates compressive residual stresses on the surface by blasting a numerous of shots at a very high speed, also it is considered a complex process to be simulated.

Impact of Rotation on the Retarded Interaction between a Permanent Dipole Particle and a Polarizable Surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We have calculated components of torque and the interaction energy of small rotating particle with a permanent dipole moment in the case where the rotation axis is perpendicular to the surface and the dipole axis is inclined to it.

Longitudinal Vortices in Granular Flows

open access: yes, 2001
We present a new instability observed in rapid granular flows down rough inclined planes. For high inclinations and flow rates, the free surface of the flow experiences a regular deformation in the transverse direction.

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Effect of Vision and Surface Slope on Postural Sway in Healthy Adults: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesLife
Postural stability requires an interaction between cognitive, perceptual, sensory, and motor functions. Thus, impairment in any of these systems may affect postural balance.

Scanning laser source and scanning laser detection techniques for different surface crack geometries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Standard test samples typically contain simulated defects such as slots machined normal to the surface. However, real defects will not always propagate in this manner; for example, rolling contact fatigue on rails propagates at around 25º to the surface,

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
