Numerical evaluation of a solar collector's performance based on its optimal tilt angle

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables
Accurate knowledge of solar irradiation at ground level is essential for optimizing the design of solar energy systems. Proper orientation of solar panels, particularly their tilt angle, plays a key role in maximizing energy capture by ensuring the most ...

Numerical MHD Simulations of Solar Magnetoconvection and Oscillations in Inclined Magnetic Field Regions

open access: yes, 2010
The sunspot penumbra is a transition zone between the strong vertical magnetic field area (sunspot umbra) and the quiet Sun. The penumbra has a fine filamentary structure that is characterized by magnetic field lines inclined toward the surface ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Experimental evaluation of new pipe sleeve with weep holes for concrete leakage prevention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mortar is a layer with high water absorption rate over concrete due to its porous structure. The mortar layer that frequently exposed to water or moisture is more likely to contain moisture in its layer.

The Influence of Interactions and Minor Mergers on the Structure of Galactic Disks: I.Observations and Disk Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This paper is the first part in our series on the influence of tidal interactions and minor mergers on the radial and vertical disk structure of spiral galaxies. We report on the sample selection, our observations, and data reduction.

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Flow of Thin Liquid Film on an Inclined Solid Surface [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Rafidain Journal of Computer Sciences and Mathematics, 2007
In this paper, we consider flow of thin liquid film on an inclined solid surface with an inclination angle . We use the Navier-Stokes equations to obtain equations that govern such flow .We solve these equations analytically with an appropriate boundary ...

Spin-Orbit Coupling and Anomalous Angular-Dependent Magnetoresistance in the Quantum Transport Regime of PbS

open access: yes, 2010
We measured magnetotransport properties of PbS single crystals which exhibit the quantum linear magnetoresistance (MR) as well as the static skin effect that creates a surface layer of additional conductivity.

Copper‐Based Crystalline‐Metallic Glass Composite Thin Films: A Novel Material with Enhanced Strength and Thermally Stable Nanotwins

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Cu‐based crystal‐glass composite with high‐density twins is identified by a fast screening technique using combinatorial sputtering together with XRD and nanoindentation mapping. This bamboo‐like structure demonstrates homogenous plastic flow and retains high strength during in situ high temperature tests, up to 1 GPa at 550°C, owing to those ...

Heat Transfer Characteristics of Turbulent Impinging Jet in Impingement Angle and Curved Surface Configuration using Transient Liquid Crystal Method

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2007
The transient method of measuring heat transfer coefficients that uses liquid crystals, since its beginnings in the early 1980s, has become one of the best ways of determining surface distributions of heat transfer coefficient.
