3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Discovery of new mineral addibischoffite, Ca_2Al_6Al_6O_(20) ,IN A Ca-Al-Rich refractory inclusion from the Acfer 214 CH3 meteorite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: During a mineralogy investigation of the Acfer 214 CH3 carbonaceous chondrite, a new calcium aluminate mineral, named “addibischoffite”, Ca_2Al_6Al_6O_(20) with the P-1 aenigmatite structure, was identified in a Ca-Al-rich inclusion (CAI ...

Selenium supplementation of lactating dairy cows: effects on milk production and total selenium content and speciation in blood, milk and cheese [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Forty-multiparous Holstein cows were used in a 16-wk continuous design study to determine the effects of either selenium (Se) source, selenized yeast (SY) (derived from a specific strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3060 Sel-Plex®) or sodium ...

Inclusive Reactions by Swellable Clay Minerals. II

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1990
An organophilic-montmollironite (Or-Mon) was prepared by a cation-exchange reaction between sodium-montmollironite (Na-Mon) and dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride (DODAC). The cation exchange amount of DO-DAC in the Or-Mon was 80 meq/100 g-Na-Mon. This corresponds to the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of Na-Mon. The basal spacing of the Or-Mon was 26.

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...

Characteristics and carbon stable isotopes of fluids in the Southern Kerala granulites and their bearing on the source of CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes
Carbon dioxide-rich inclusions commonly occur in the banded charnockites and khondalites of southern Kerala as well as in the incipient charnockites formed by desiccation of gneisses along oriented zones.

Synergistic Osteogenesis After Co‐Administration of cmRNAs Encoding BMP‐2 and BMP‐7 Utilizing a Transcript‐Activated Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the dual delivery of BMP‐2/‐7 coding cmRNAs for bone healing is demonstrated as feasible, safe, and highly osteogenic. Compared to single BMP‐2 or BMP‐7 cmRNAs, the combination enhances the production of both mineral and organic components of the extracellular matrix when delivered using a collagen‐HA scaffold, supporting ...

Calcareous Algae (Lithothamnium calcareum) as an Alternative Source of Calcium in Commercial Layer Diets

open access: yesTropical Animal Science Journal
Calcareous algae (CA) are an alternative renewable source of organic minerals that are used in poultry feed. However, the optimal CA concentration that can be included in poultry diets and its effect on egg production requires further investigation. The
