Single‐Shot Full‐Stokes Analysis of Partially‐Polarized Light With a Photonic Deep Random Neural Network

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Photonic neural networks are emerging as a powerful tool for analyzing light. The article reports a photonic deep random neural network that performs single‐shot low‐latency measurements of the state and degree of polarization with high accuracy. Using only a stack of glass diffusers on top of a small camera sensor, this neuromorphic polarization ...

Coherent and Incoherent Neutral Current Scattering for Supernova Detection

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2012
The total cross sections as well as the neutrino event rates are calculated in the neutral current neutrino scattering off 40Ar and 132Xe isotopes at neutrino energies ...

Anomalous Enhancement of the Boltzmann Conductivity in Disordered Zigzag Graphene Nanoribbons

open access: yes, 2010
We study the conductivity of disordered zigzag graphene nanoribbons in the incoherent regime by using the Boltzmann equation approach. The band structure of zigzag nanoribbons contains two energy valleys, and each valley has an excess one-way channel ...

Long‐Range Exciton Energy Transfer in Two‐Dimensional Materials

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in long‐range exciton energy transfer within planar 2D‐material architectures. It emphasizes the emergence of self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons, exciton coupling to surface plasmon polaritons and plasmonic lattices, and the role of dipoledipole transfer pathways in enabling efficient nanoscale energy transport ...

Coherent and incoherent pair creation by a photon in oriented single crystal

open access: yes, 2005
The new approach is developed for study of electron-positron pair production by a photon in oriented single crystal. It permits indivisible consideration of both coherent and incoherent mechanisms of pair creation and includes the action of field of axis

Highly Versatile Real‐Time Optical Noise Filtering Through Temporal Cloaking

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Conventional bandpass filtering strategies may be insufficient for recovering optical waveforms under extremely noisy conditions. We demonstrate a temporal‐cloaking denoising strategy enabled by the temporal Talbot effect, which concentrates the coherent signal of interest into short temporal slots while broadband noise remains temporally spread.

Franck–Condon picture of incoherent neutron scattering [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2018
Significance Despite the long history of neutron scattering studies on complex condensed matter systems, there is still a need for appropriate analysis concepts beyond the classical Van Hove theory, which is commonly used to interpret the experimental spectra in terms of trajectory-based dynamical models. The approach presented in this paper,

Photonic Systolic Array for All‐Optical Matrix–Matrix Multiplication

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A photonic systolic array is introduced, offering extreme parallelism in matrix‐matrix multiplication based on the synchronized movement of optical pulses along a crossbar array. Optical pulses traveling in perpendicular directions meet at freeform‐designed multiply‐accumulate units, each tailored to generate two signals whose intensity difference ...

Between Order and Confusion: Clearing up Structural Misconceptions in Carbon Materials Nomenclature. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
Despite the versatile use of carbon materials, inconsistent terminology and inadequate characterization – especially regarding graphene structures based on sp2‐hybridized carbon atoms – often cause confusion. This perspective clarifies terms like graphite, graphitic carbon, non‐graphitic carbon, and amorphous carbon by aligning IUPAC definitions with X‐
