The Incommensurability Thesis: Has It Lost Its Bite?
Incommensurability constitutes the focal point of Kuhn's departure from the prevailing traditions in Philosophy of Science. The paper traces the mathematical origin of the concept of "incommensurability" and philosophical environment that constrained the

Paradigms and Incommensurability
Theory and Society, 1975One of the consequences of the new image of science has been an emphasis on the ‘incommensurability’ of paradigms. As we have seen, advocates of the new image challenge the view that statements, including scientific theories, have some atomic, fixed meanings; they argue that statements have meanings only by virtue of their relations to other statements

Taxonomy, truth-value gaps and incommensurability: a reconstruction of Kuhn's taxonomic interpretation of incommensurability [PDF]
Kuhn's alleged taxonomic interpretation of incommensurability is grounded on an ill defined notion of untranslatability and is hence radically incomplete.

The incommensurability of psychoanalysis and history
History and Theory, 2012ABSTRACTThis article argues that, although psychoanalysis and history have different conceptions of time and causality, there can be a productive relationship between them. Psychoanalysis can force historians to question their certainty about facts, narrative, and cause; it introduces disturbing notions about unconscious motivation and the effects of ...

In the 1990s, authors such as Andrew Pickering and Ian Hacking, who worked on experimental practices and stressed the need for philosophy of science to take into account material and performative aspects of laboratory life, claimed to have discovered a new kind of incommensurability.

When one scientific theory or tradition is replaced by another in a scientific revolution, the concepts involved often change in fundamental ways. For example, among other differences, in Newtonian mechanics an object’s mass is independent of its velocity, while in relativity mechanics, mass increases as the velocity approaches that of light.

The origin of the incommensurate phase and the incommensurate-commensurate transition
Ferroelectrics, 1986Abstract It is shown that the modulation of an IC phase originates in the δ2 term of the model Hamiltonian, and that the Lifshitz term δπx is necessary for its stability. It is also shown that the soliton structure can only exist near Ts. It is difficult to distinguish the C phase characterised by solitons from the IC phase of multi-harmonic modulation
