Small Nucleolar RNA Snord17 Promotes Self‐Renewal of Intestinal Stem Cells through Yy2 mRNA Export and Tead4 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Snord17, through interaction with Thoc3, promotes nuclear export and translation of Yy2 mRNA in Snord17+/+ ISCs. The Yy2 protein subsequently binds the Tead4 promoter to promote its transcription, activating Hippo signaling, which is essential for ISC maintenance.

Tubule‐Derived IFN‐α Promotes GSDMD‐Mediated Macrophage Pyroptosis to Drive Renal Inflammation and Fibrosis Through JAK2/STAT2 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mao and colleagues uncover a STAT2/IRF9‐dependent signaling axis through which tubular epithelial cell (TEC)‐derived IFN‐α induces gasdermin D (GSDMD)‐mediated pyroptosis in macrophages. This TEC‐macrophage feedback loop amplifies renal inflammation and fibrosis, providing mechanistic insight into the progression of chronic kidney disease and revealing

A New Genus of Miniaturized and Pug-Nosed Gecko from South America (Sphaerodactylidae: Gekkota) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sphaerodactyl geckos comprise five genera distributed across Central and South America and the Caribbean. We estimated phylogenetic relationships among sphaerodactyl genera using both separate and combined analyses of seven nuclear genes.

Foxed intra- and interspecific differentiation in Leptogorgia (Octocorallia: Gorgoniidae). A description of a new species based on multiple sources of evidence

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2017
The challenges of delimiting and identifying marine invertebrate species impede estimations of true biodiversity. This is particularly true in the case of gorgonian diversity, in which only classical morphological characters (e.g. branching pattern, size

Hypothesis testing near singularities and boundaries

open access: yes, 2018
The likelihood ratio statistic, with its asymptotic $\chi^2$ distribution at regular model points, is often used for hypothesis testing. At model singularities and boundaries, however, the asymptotic distribution may not be $\chi^2$, as highlighted by ...

Spatial Profiling Reveals Distinct Molecular and Immune Evolution of Mouse Lung Adenocarcinoma Precancers with or Without Carcinogen Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor evolution in lung adenocarcinoma is shaped by genetic alterations and spatial immune dynamics. By integrating whole‐exome sequencing, imaging mass cytometry, and spatial transcriptomics across two mouse models, this study reveals how mutational burden, immune infiltration, and cell–state interactions evolve during early and late carcinogenesis ...

Reconciliation feasibility in the presence of gene duplication, loss, and coalescence with multiple individuals per species

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2017
Background In phylogenetics, we often seek to reconcile gene trees with species trees within the framework of an evolutionary model. While the most popular models for eukaryotic species allow for only gene duplication and gene loss or only multispecies ...

Hepatocyte Mettl3 Deficiency Drives Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Liver Fibrosis via Cholangiocyte‐Macrophage Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration demonstrating that hepatic Mettl3 depletion significantly elevates the secretion of Mif and Csf1. This elevation facilitates Trem2+ macrophage infiltration and triggers cholangiocyte remodeling through the Spp1‐Cd44 interaction, resulting in spontaneous PSC development in vivo.

Anchoring quartet-based phylogenetic distances and applications to species tree reconstruction

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2016
Background Inferring species trees from gene trees using the coalescent-based summary methods has been the subject of much attention, yet new scalable and accurate methods are needed.

Stress‐Programmed Immune Niches Fuel TNFR2+ Treg Activation and Drive Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Resistance in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell sequencing reveals stress‐programmed immune states driving TNFα–TNFR2–mediated Treg activation and therapy resistance in breast cancer, while targeting this axis restores antitumor immunity. ABSTRACT The tumor microenvironment (TME) harbors diverse immune cell states that shape therapeutic outcomes in breast cancer.
