Exon-intron structure and sequence variation of the calreticulin gene among Rhipicephalus sanguineus group ticks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Calreticulin proteins (CRTs) are important components of tick saliva, which is involved in the blood meal success, pathogen transmission and host allergic responses.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Inspired Microneedle Platform for NIR‐responsive Immunomodulation and Accelerated Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The research demonstrates a Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐inspired microneedle platform (MSCi@MN) that addresses chronic diabetic wounds by combining MSC‐derived extracellular nanovesicles (NV)–DNA conjugates in microneedle tips with photothermal MXene in the patch layer.

Inferring Species Trees Directly from Biallelic Genetic Markers: Bypassing Gene Trees in a Full Coalescent Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The multi-species coalescent provides an elegant theoretical framework for estimating species trees and species demographics from genetic markers. Practical applications of the multi-species coalescent model are, however, limited by the need to integrate

Fabrication, Properties, and Applications of Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review explores cutting‐edge biomaterials and fabrication techniques for scaffolds in bone tissue regeneration. It conducts a critical comparison of various strategies, meticulously analyzes the key contradictions in the field, and outlines an integrated development path spanning from biomaterial selection to clinical application, while ...

The dynamics of introgression across an avian radiation

open access: yesEvolution Letters, 2021
Hybridization and resulting introgression can play both a destructive and a creative role in the evolution of diversity. Thus, characterizing when and where introgression is most likely to occur can help us understand the causes of diversification ...

MITOCHONDRIAL INTROGRESSION AND INCOMPLETE LINEAGE SORTING THROUGH SPACE AND TIME: PHYLOGENETICS OF CROTAPHYTID LIZARDS [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 2007
We investigate the roles of mitochondrial introgression and incomplete lineage sorting during the phylogenetic history of crotaphytid lizards. Our Bayesian phylogenetic estimate for Crotaphytidae is based on analysis of mitochondrial DNA sequence data for 408 individuals representing the 12 extant species of Crotaphytus and Gambelia.

CD207‐Positive Dendritic Cells Promote Emphysema Through CD8+ T Cell Pathway in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CD207+ dendritic cells (DCs) drive emphysema by promoting CD8⁺ T cell cytotoxicity via Birbeck granule‐dependent MHC‐I antigen presentation. This DC subset is expanded by cigarette smoke‐induced oxidative stress, which triggers granulocyte‐macrophage colony‐stimulating factor (GM‐CSF) release from airway epithelium.

NDST3‐Induced Epigenetic Reprogramming Reverses Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NDST3‐mediated epigenetic reprogramming revitalizes neuronal circuits in the substantia nigra and striatum to halt dopaminergic neuron degeneration and restore motor function in Parkinson's disease models. This strategy promotes neuronal maintenance and functional recovery, highlighting NDST3's therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders ...

Bayesian Inference of Reticulate Phylogenies under the Multispecies Network Coalescent. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2016
The multispecies coalescent (MSC) is a statistical framework that models how gene genealogies grow within the branches of a species tree. The field of computational phylogenetics has witnessed an explosion in the development of methods for species tree ...

SICLE: A high-throughput tool for extracting evolutionary relationships from phylogenetic trees

open access: yes, 2016
We present the phylogeny analysis software SICLE (Sister Clade Extractor), an easy-to-use, high- throughput tool to describe the nearest neighbors to a node of interest in a phylogenetic tree as well as the support value for the relationship.
