A Fibronectin (FN)‐Silk 3D Cell Culture Model as a Screening Tool for Repurposed Antifibrotic Drug Candidates for Endometriosis

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
This paper presents in vitro 3D cell culture models of fibrosis in endometriosis. Endometrial stromal and epithelial cells cultured in networks of silk protein functionalized with a fibronectin‐derived cell adhesion motif show physiological‐like fibrotic behavior.

Stress and Strain in Magma‐Mush Reservoirs: Implications for Reservoir Failure and Magma Propagation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Investigating the mechanical stability and failure of magma reservoirs following magma supply is critical for volcanic hazard assessment. While magma reservoirs were traditionally modeled as melt‐filled cavities, they are now more often described as crystal mushes where melt flows and is stored in porous networks.

The Climate Modeling Alliance Atmosphere Dynamical Core: Concepts, Numerics, and Scaling

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract This paper presents the dynamical core of the Climate Modeling Alliance (CliMA) atmosphere model, designed for efficient simulation of a wide range of atmospheric flows across scales. The core uses the nonhydrostatic equations of motion for a deep atmosphere, discretized with a hybrid approach that combines a spectral element method (SEM) in ...

Modeling the Drying Process of CO2‐Water in Porous Media With a Novel Volume‐of‐Fluid Lattice Boltzmann Model

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Lattice Boltzmann (LB) modeling has been extensively applied to porous media processes, including evaporation. Former pore‐scale LB models for evaporation rely on oversimplified assumptions, such as matched viscosities. However, in subsurface CO2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$–brine systems, the viscosity ratio can exceed 100 under relevant temperature ...

Impact of Density Gradients and Momentum Ratios on Streamwise Circulation at River Confluences

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Mixing processes in confluences influence concentrations of water quality parameters such as suspended sediment loads and water chemistry in the post‐confluent reach. Thus, improving our understanding of confluence flow structures and mixing is key to predicting the impact of the downstream propagation of pollutants and nutrients.
