Magnetooptics of the incompressible Fermi liquid and of the Wigner solid

Surface Science, 1992
We study the radiative recombination of two-dimensional electrons in GaAsGaAlAs heterojunctions with holes localised on acceptors in strong magnetic fields. From the spectral position of the luminescence line, we derive values for the quasiparticle energy gaps of the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect.

Violation of the Incompressibility of Liquid by Simple Shear Flow

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
Fluid dynamics, which describes the flow of gas and liquid, has contributed tremendously to science and technology. If we can safely ignore the density change associated with flow, then we can regard fluid to be incompressible. For simple shear flow, for example, it has been established that there is no pressure change associated with flow and thus no ...

Arbitrary Motions of a Viscous Incompressible Liquid in a Finite Region

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1998
By using an entirely constructive analysis it is shown that there exist solutions of the viscous flow equations in which two of the Cartesian components of velocity are arbitrary and the third component can be constructed uniquely by the application of integrability conditions.

Surface waves in a non-newtonian incompressible liquid film

Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1979
The perturbation techniques of Friedrichs, Keller and Benney ar used to derive the governing equations of long wavelength surface waves in a liquid film of a fluid which obeys a generalized Norton type consititutive relationship. Motions are assumed to be small so that acceleration terms are negligible.

On Instability of Equilibrium Figures of Rotating Viscous Incompressible Liquid

Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2005
Summary: We prove that non-axially symmetric equilibrium figures of uniformly rotating viscous incompressible liquid are unstable when the second variation of the energy functional can take negative values.

On isobaric planar flows of a viscous incompressible liquid

USSR Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1985
All possible planar flows of an incompressible viscous liquid at constant pressure are studied. It is shown that the classical one-dimensional heat transfer equation is a generating equation for them.
