Optimization of Nd:YAG-Laser Welding Process for Inconel 718 Alloy
Materials Science Forum, 2007Ni-based superalloys are extensively used in the manufacture of aircraft engine components because of their excellent heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant properties. The principal joining processes for Ni-based superalloys are TIG welding, MIG welding, submerged arc welding, electron beam welding, and CO2 laser welding.

Simulation of creep cavity growth in Inconel 718 alloy
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2011Nickel base superalloys provide significant improvements relative to the limitations in the areas of creep resistance, oxidation, low cycle and high cycle fatigue resistance. Since these materials are being pushed to limits of their capability in gas turbine applications, accurate mathematical models are needed to predict the service lives of the high ...

Machinability Studies in Drilling of Inconel 718 Super Alloy
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Inconel 718, a Nickel based superalloy is widely used for aerospace applications mainly due to its high temperature resistance and high strength to weight ratio. Its poor machinability is a limiting factor in commercial, cost intensive applications. This paper investigates the machinability of Inconel 718 in high speed drilling.

Nanoanalysis of precipitation in a modified Inconel 718 alloy
Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1994The nickel-base superalloy Inconel 718 (IN718) is strengthened primarily by precipitation of two types of intermetallic phases in the austenite (γ) matrix: metastable γ' (cubic Ll2 structure) and γ" (tetragonal D022 structure) precipitates. Minor changes of the chemistry of the IN718 alloy can significantly affect its mechanical properties at high ...

¿'/¿" Interfacial Chemistry in an Inconel 718 Alloy after Service
2006 19th International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference, 2006The γ'/γ interfacial chemistry of a blade of Inconel 718 alloy after service in an airplane engine is investigated using transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and 3DAP technique. Results show that the size of both grain and precipitates and the interfacial chemistry are stable after service.
