LDPC code ensembles for incremental redundancy hybrid ARQ
Proceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005An LDPC code based hybrid ARQ scheme with random transmission assignments is analyzed. The spectrum properties of LDPC code ensembles that are necessary for this analysis are derived. Very good estimates of maximum-likelihood decoding error rates after each transmission are provided.

Optimizing HARQ feedback and incremental redundancy in wireless communications
2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2018Wireless networks have been adjusting their transmit power, modulation order, and coding rate based on the channel conditions for a long time. Such adaptive protocols aim to maximize the overall throughput by striking a trade-off between transmitting as much information as possible and minimizing the probability of loosing such information.

On the coding gain of incremental redundancy over chase combining
GLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004We develop an information-theoretic model to explain and predict the coding gains of the incremental redundancy (IR) over the chase combining (CC) scheme using random coding bounding techniques. From extensive simulations, the model is found to provide accurate coding gain predictions in conjunction with either optimal or practical repeated low-rate ...

Modeling of kinematic redundancy by incremental successive approximations
6th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Service, 2003. TELSIKS 2003., 2004This paper presents a modification of the successive approximation method so the model can be updated with an each new learning example, without need to keep them all from the beginning. The incremental update of the model is achieved by recursive least mean square algorithm.

Performance comparison of HARQ with Chase combining and incremental redundancy for HSDPA
IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002We compare two hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) combining strategies that currently are considered for the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) evolution of WCDMA. The two HARQ combining schemes are Chase combining, where the retransmissions are identical copies of the original transmission, and incremental redundancy (IR), where the ...

Adaptive incremental-redundancy transmission for tactical packet radio systems
2011 - MILCOM 2011 Military Communications Conference, 2011A low-complexity protocol for the adaptation of incremental-redundancy transmission is described and evaluated for use in tactical packet radio systems that must communicate over channels with fading and other time-varying propagation losses. The protocol responds to variations in channel attenuation by adjusting the number of binary code symbols that ...

Incremental Redundancy for LDPC Codes of 2nd Generation DVB Systems
2012 IEEE 75th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2012In 2nd generation Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) systems, low-density parity-check codes (LDPCCs) are applied. In this paper, we propose extension of the standardized LDPCCs to allow for additional incremental redundancy (IR). Several use-cases of IR in broadcasting systems are outlined.

An adaptive-feedback coding scheme using incremental redundancy (Corresp.)
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1974A feedback decision scheme is proposed in which a punctured codeword is initially transmitted. If an uncorrectable error is detected, the receiver signals the transmitter to send another increment of redundancy. This procedure is continued if the aggregated word is still uncorrectable.
