Incremental forming of polycarbonate sheets
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2018Abstract The influence of the contact conditions at the tool-workpiece interface and the toolpath strategy on the quality of incremental formed parts made by polycarbonate sheets is investigated. To this end, different experimental tests were conducted involving different tool types (with fixed and rotating end) and toolpaths (unidirectional and ...

Benchmark 3 - Incremental sheet forming
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013Benchmark-3 is designed to predict strains, punch load and deformed profile after spring-back during single tool incremental sheet forming. AA 7075-O material has been selected. A corn shape is formed to 45 mm depth with an angle of 45°. Problem description, material properties, and simulation reports with experimental data are summarized.

The production of sheet metal parts has long been associated with either skilled manual labour or to the use of expensive tooling for mass production. This led to two classical application fields: the manufacture of unique parts with a high cost and low accuracy, and the mass production of parts after a high tolling investment.

Incremental Sheet Forming Analysed by Tensile Tests
Key Engineering Materials, 2009To study material behaviour under conditions encountered in ISF operations tensile tests have been carried out on material taken from the walls of pyramidal products. The shape of the stress-strain curves depend on orientation. Tests in the direction of punch movement show an overshoot indicating a change in strain path, tests across that direction do ...
